Two Kingston hockey greats retired this month in 2003.
        
Kirk Muller, who played 19 seasons in the NHL and won a Stanley Cup with Montreal in 1993, announced his retirement at the International Hockey Hall of Fame on Sept. 2.
       
Doug Gilmour, who played 20 seasons in the NHL and racked up more than 1,400 points, retired just six days later.

Our Artifacts
This wool jersey, worn by Montreal Canadiens great Maurice "Rocket" Richard, is a highlight of our collection. Richard was the first NHL player to score 50 goals in a season and the first to score 500 career goals.

At the Original Hockey Hall of Fame, we are excited to announce that amazing new exhibits will be installed later this fall. 

Some of the great new features at the hall will include:
  • A multimedia threatre and live-presentation area
  • Video on why we play the game, with both NHL stars and young players explaining their love of the sport
  • Storied artifacts including the world's oldest puck (yes, it's square!)
  • The story of the women's game (women have been playing a lot longer than you think)
  • Interactive exhibits, including one that allows young players to create their own hockey cards

Bun Cook: Developer
of the drop pass

Brothers Bill and Fred "Bun" Cook began their hockey careers on the ponds and rinks of Kingston, before ascending to fame and glory in the National Hockey League. Ultimately, their journey would end with both being inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, recognized among the greatest legends to ever play the game. While Bun was overshadowed somewhat by his older brother Bill, he was a fine player in his own right - and he might have been an even better coach than a player.
