Swing for the Girls - You Can Help
This is our biggest fundraiser of the year for The First Tee of Greater Sacramento and we need your help to make it successful.

EWGA members and their friends will form threesomes and the fourth will be a girl from The First Tee organization. This is a great opportunity to watch young girls from The First Tee interact, play golf and learn from their First Tee experiences.

Come out and enjoy the experience of playing golf with our up and coming stars of tomorrow!  All levels of golfers (women and men!) are welcome -- this event is all about fun!!

Details:

  • Sunday, May 31.
  • At Morgan Creek Golf Club in Roseville.
  • If you would like to play with anyone in particular, indicate their names when you register - just remember that it is only 3 adults in each group.
  • There will be a Barbeque Buffet following golf, and we will be auctioning and raffling lots of great rounds of golf and maybe a few other things too (see below), so bring your checkbook or credit cards!! Proceeds benefit girls of The First Tee, so be generous!
  • Included in the fee are: greens fee, cart, range balls, and barbecue.
The Auction and Raffle:  This is where we need help!

It would be wonderful if members would be willing to donate items for the auction or raffle.  It doesn't have to be golf related, so think "outside of the box" and, please, let us know if you can help.  Help us make this a great event for the girls!  If you can help, please contact Linda Reid. She'll put you in contact with the right person.

We are so happy to have you as a member!  And, thank you Del Sayles-Owen for bringing her to EWGA.

We Want You at the Haggin Golf EXPO!
We need you to help out!  It's fun, easy, lots of members to get to know, opportunities to shop deals, did I say fun?  You need to do this and if you are a new member this is a wonderful opportunity to get to know your sisters!!!

We need help running the booth for 3 hour shifts between 8:30am and 5:30pm on all three days (Friday, April 24- Sunday, April 26).  We hope get 3 people in the booth for each shift. If you can volunteer for any of these times (and feel free to sign up for more than one shift!), you'll enjoy your time there.
During the slow times, you'll be able to check out the rest of the Expo!  If you are planning on coming out to the Expo anyway, why not spend some time in the EWGA booth!!

CHARDONNAY GOLF CLUB

APRIL 12, 2015

PWGA & NCGA TEAM QUALIFIER

Eighteen ladies made the trek over to Napa to tackle Chardonnay Golf Club.  The 119 rating on this course is very deceiving.  It is a very challenging course.  There were two teams qualifying for the NCGA Associate Club qualifier and five teams qualifying to represent EWGA Sacramento in the PWGA Team event.  We also were playing for low net over the field and low gross.

The winner of low gross was Nanci Smith with a score of 84.  Betty Lou Beyer took home the low net award with a 71.  Great scores, ladies.

The two two-person teams advancing to play in the NCGA best ball event to be held on May 28th at a location to be determined later are:  Nanci Smith and Pam Katros with a team net score of 65.  Kris Corbridge and Patricia Ickes were close with a 66 net.  Both teams will be advancing to represent us in a mostly male-dominated event so we wish them luck in representing our ladies group.

The five teams qualifying for two spots to advance to represent EWGA at the PWGA team event at Woodcreek on June 29th were:

1st place:  Shelley Van Drimmelen and Pam Katros - 62

2nd place: Jeri Paik and Patricia Ickes - 64  (won in card off)

3rd place:  Tillie Melton and Sharon Blume - 64

4th Place:  Kris Corbridge and Clare Payne - 69

5th place:  Marcia Whiting and Lori Lucius - 70

Spring Fun League - #2 Results
by Vicki Philpott

Lynda Lapp, Kayleen Kott, Janet Cino

Twenty players came out to play the MacKenzie Course at Haggin Oaks on Saturday, April 11th in beautiful weather for the second of five play dates in the Spring Fun League.  The game of the day was Cha-Cha-Cha and teams were equally matched using their handicaps.  In the 4-person Cha-Cha-Cha format, each member of the team played her ball throughout, but a 3-hole rotation existed for determining how many scores were used to create the team score.

On the first hole (Cha), the one low ball counts as the team score.  On the second hole (Cha-Cha), the two low balls combined count as the team score.  On the third hole (Cha-Cha-Cha), the three low balls combined count as the team score.  The rotation starts over on the fourth hole.  There were ($20) gift cards awarded to the winning team members as well as a $15 gift card to the overall low net for the day.

Congratulations to the team of Linda Reid, Janet Cino, Kayleen Kott and Lynda Lapp

winning with the low score of 128 (par of this format was 141).  All other teams were not far behind turning in scores ranging from 130-135.  Congrats go out to Clare Payne , our Low Net winner for the day with a very nice net 69!  Kudos to Marcia Whiting  (#7 and #12) and Laurie Hochmuch (#7 and #16) for each getting two natural birdies.

Next Spring League Fun Play date is Saturday, April 28 at Bartley Cavanaugh.
