The Henry Luce Foundation announces its Fund for Theological Education
A fait hful supporter of the work of theological education and theological schools for many decades, the Henry Luce Foundation has announced an exciting new program, The Fund for Theological Education. Through the Fund, the Luce Foundation will provide grants of up to $500,000 for theological schools as they work to develop and implement new models of teaching and learning, research and publication, leadership development, and educational program design. State authorization of distance education
Schools offering online courses face a federal requirement that they seek authorization from all states in which their students reside, under the US Department of Education's State Authorization Requirement (SAR) of 2010. The consequences of noncompliance range from fines, to loss of Title IV financial aid funding, to lawsuits from students, to actions by the ATS Commission on Accrediting Board of Commissioners. Two experts field questions about the law, the authorization process, and their implications for ATS Commission accreditation.

ATS is collaborating with the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the International Society for Science and Religion to sponsor a meeting on
Friday, November 20, in conjunction with the Atlanta meetings of the American Academy of Religion and Society of Biblical Literature. The symposium on "Science and the Next Generation of Religious Leaders: The Science for Seminaries Project" will be from
1 to 6 p.m. at the Atlanta Hilton, rooms 206-207, followed by a reception.
