Agency Update
The Power of Possibilities in 2016
This first edition of the year is packed full of helpful guidance to introduce the power of possibilities and opportunities in 2016. As you roll into the New Year, may this year bring greater collaboration, health, and prosperity for you and Team BCI!
BCI Internal Payroll System Change & Federal Tax Reporting
BCI has changed our Payroll Provider for this new year, moving from HRO Resources to AlliancePayroll, and expects this to be a positive change. BCI has diligently prepared for this move and as with any change in linking payroll, the possibility exist that errors may occur. Please review your pay stub and direct deposits and email Becky Chesnut with questions or concerns.

Keep in mind that from one tax year to the next, you may see slight adjustments to your Federal Tax Withholding, as the IRS changes the Tax Tables annually and this may cause your Net Pay to differ slightly from your last payroll dated 12/31/2015. You may update your tax withholding allowance or preferences at any time by submitting a W-4 Form to HR/Payroll.

Guardian Life Insurance Company
Agency & Producer Appointment Under BCI Agency Code
Guardian recently changed how Benefit Concepts is appointed to ensure all Producers and Strategic Partners are under one agency ID. An advantage is Producers and Strategic Partners don't have to become individually appointed and Guardian can more effectively manage our block of business to track our production and persistency.

The new agency code is  9H852 which should be used for new business submissions, renewal requests, etc.  This new code will automatically be recognized by the Guardian Anytime system and there is no need to add this code to your online profile(s). When retrieving your Direct Deposit Commission Statement, you will continue to receive statements for Producer ID code of BH859, which will display commissions for all your old and new codes.

Caprock Provides Strong Review of ACA Reporting
The last 30 to 45 days in the health insurance arena have been painful -- tough and challenging. Group renewals for 12/1 took time and energy to get the groups renewed or shopped. Subsequently, the individual market blew up with the reduction of funding by the feds to the health carriers/ co-ops from the risk corridor provision of ACA. The funding has now been cut twice led by Senator Marc Rubio. The last cut was included in the recent budget agreement about 2 weeks ago. The carriers and co -ops were promised subsidies from the feds for a bad block of business. With these recent cuts, the carriers and co -ops getting the funding was cut substantially to only 13 cents on the dollar. The promise of liberal funding was not kept with these reductions.  For that reason , carriers in the individual market have limited or restricted their networks. Some states had rate adjustments to counter the loss of funding with some seeing a 30 % plus increase in their rates. The risk corridor provision also crippled co -ops. 23 co-ops were formed under ACA. Almost half have shut their doors or will soon close their doors. Ouch!
