Wishes Came True In December at Howe Arena with Santa, His Elves and Make-A-Wish® Michigan
$1,125 Was Raised for Make-A-Wish Michigan During Christmas Twilight Skate
On December 19, 2015, Howe Arena became one of the most festive spots in town with not one but two back-to-back Christmas Twilight Skates at 4:30 and 7:00 pm. Santa and Elves made an appearance at both events, greeting the hundreds of skaters who stopped by to skate to the music in a rink illuminated with holiday lights and decorations. But the fun didn't stop there. During the evening event - dubbed Twilight Skate for Wishes - our friends Heather Leigh and DJ Jimmy Hotkeys from 106 KHQ Northern Michigan's Hit Music Channel stopped by to spin the tunes and give away prizes including a ride on the Rudolph the Reindeer inspired Zamboni. Congrats to Gift whose lucky ticket was drawn. Gift had a blast...it's not every day you get to ride the Zam!

While all that made for a great time, I.C.E. - Involved Citizens Enterprises which is the 501(c)(3) non-profit organization of Centre Ice and Howe Arena - wanted to make sure the evening provided something extra special just in time for the holidays. Consequently, gate admissions from the 7:00 pm event were donated to Make-A-Wish Michigan and at the end of the night $1,125 was presented to Nicole Robertson of Make-A-Wish.

It may seem surprising that a non-profit organization would donate funds from a popular event to a different non-profit organization. According to Terry Marchand, I.C.E. Executive Director, "We're just glad to give back to the community. We've also donated more than $50,000 worth of ice time to area non-profits for their fundraising. We are grateful to this community for all the support we receive and we want to give back as a way to show our gratitude."

Santa & Elves were not the only special guests of the evening. Teddy the Service Dog joined his friend Maddie - looking especially snazzy in her TC Hounds sweatshirt! - and was loved by everyone he met.

Here are a few more photos from that fun and festive night. To check out the complete photo album from Twilight Skate for Wishes 2015, Click Here. Thank you to everyone who came out, had a great time and helped us raise funds for wishes!
