I t's Your Venice -- Get Involved!
Tuesday:  Your Board of Officers Meets
Your Neighborhood Council Board of Officers will hold its monthly meeting Tuesday, January 19, at 7:00 pm.

President Mike Newhouse will preside. The Board will consider a variety of recommendations regarding Ocean Front Walk, VNC Bylaws and elections, as well as development proposals recommended by the Land Use and Planning Committee and the Treasurer's monthly report.  

Local government and LAPD representatives will also provide updates on status of work in their respective departments and monthly law enforcement reports and issues.

2016 Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count
The Greater LA Homeless Count is the largest homeless count in the nation. In 2015 over 5,500 volunteers spread out across LA County to count our homeless neighbors in an effort to get them the help and housing they need.

VNC joins city-wide NC Emergency Preparedness Alliance
Created in preparation for the upcoming El Nino season ahead, the Neighborhood Council Emergency Preparedness Alliance has provided the following valuable information for Venice stakeholders and promises increased communication across NCs for important public safety issues going forward.

Flooding is the most severe weather threat and the costliest nature disaster facing Venice and the nation.  Know your risk - there are a number of things you can do before, during and after a flood to reduce your risk.

El Nino is Here!  Are you Prepared?

Los Angeles Department of Sanitation has pre-filled sandbags at the following intersections:

Oakwood and Superba
Linden and Milwood
Sixth and Santa Clara
Fire Station 63 at 1930 Shell
Beaches and Harbor County Lot at Washington and Ocean Front Walk

In addition, sand and sandbags are available at the following locations:

Fire Station 5 - Westchester / Playa del Rey: Sandbags and sand
8900 S. Emerson Avenue
Fire Station 67 - Playa Vista / Playa del Rey: Sandbags only

Specific Plan Updates and Draft Environmental Impact Report


Public meetings will be held for Specific Plan Updates and the Draft Environmental Impact Report for the City of Los Angeles Coastal Transportation Corridor Specific Plan (CTCSP) and West Los Angeles Transportation Improvement and Mitigation Specific Plan (WLA TIMSP).

Small Lot Subdivision Ordinance Amendment Hearings

This notice is to inform you of a public hearing for case number CPC-2015-4499-CA , a proposed amendment to the Small Lot Subdivision Ordinance that has been initiated by the Director of Planning. The proposed ordinance seeks to amend Section 12.22-C,27 of the Los Angeles Municipal Code to require greater front and rear yard setbacks, create a division of land process for "adaptive reuse" small lot projects, and add an incidental administrative clearance process and establish design standards for small lot subdivision projects.

Venice Neighborhood Council Election

HARK!  The Venice Neighborhood Council's 2016 election will be 5 June 2016.  

If you are not perfectly satisfied with what YOUR neighborhood council has accomplished in the last 2 years, become a Board member and improve it.  

If you are perfectly satisfied, still run for the Board.   Not all current Board members intend to run again.  Candidate registration begins 21 Feb 2016.  

It's time to examine the duties and responsibilities of our 21 Board offices and begin evaluating which office to run for.   Keep tuned for more.
