radonSay NO to Mandatory Radon Testing in Montgomery County

We need YOUR help! The Montgomery County Council is quickly moving forward a Bill (Bill 31-15) that requires Mandatory Radon Testing at point of sale for all Montgomery County single-family home transactions. GCAAR OPPOSES additional mandatory inspections and testing that increase Montgomery County's already extraordinarily high closing costs and open the door to excessive litigation. We SUPPORT additional education and voluntary testing for environmental concerns, including radon. Take action now!

VAlicenseesUpdates for Virginia Licensees

Changes are happening for Virginia licensees.

  1. For any license renewals after January 1, 2016, all licensees must complete a Virginia Legal Update class that includes flood content. GCAAR has this class approved and is holding it once per month for the remainder of 2015 for those whose licenses expire in early 2016. These classes are scheduled for October 29, November 30 and December 11.

  2. We hear from plenty of licensees about carrying CE over to their next renewal. Great news! The Virginia Real Estate Board has approved the ability to carry over any CE beyond your 16 (or 24 for brokers) hours, provided that you earned the extra CE within six months of your renewal date. This will go into effect on November 1.
