As of September 23, 2015 the Save Olsen Barn committee has raised a total of $788,000 toward the purchase and permanent conservation of a beloved place -- the Olsen barn and meadow.

Thank you to everyone who has gotten us this far!

We have only $10,000 left to raise for the acquisition portion of the campaign! Please consider donating today to get us across the finish line.

Because we are so close raising the $798,000 needed to purchase the property (purchase price plus pre-acquisition expenses) the Board of the Feather River Land Trust has voted to exercise the option and move forward with the purchase--which we must close by October 26, 2015. Donations are still being accepted and the total purchase price does not have to be into the escrow account for 30 days. With your help we may close sooner!

Can you help us cross the finish line and raise the last $10,000?

We are looking forward to celebrating this victory with you.

The people who love the Almanor Basin and the Feather River Land Trust are accomplishing what no one person could do alone. Together, we are conserving one of the last remnants of Big Meadows, a priceless historic landmark, and valuable open space for Chester and future generations. The Save Olsen Barn campaign demonstrates that community support and a group of dedicated individuals can accomplish big things in our rural county.

Thank you to everyone who has donated (some multiple times) and made it possible to conserve this very special place. We truly couldn't do it without you.

Olsen Barn and Meadow - What's next?
Caring for a very special landmark: the barn

Because you are so generous, and this is such a special place, the Save Olsen Barn committee is optimistic that community support will continue to come in.
We'd love to see more "hay" in the barn before winter.

What happens if donations exceed the $10,000?

You can rest assured that the money will be used for the immediate care, management,
and stewardship of the property and the barn.

Most immediately, we need to stabilize the 130+ year-old barn before winter. A supporting rafter has come loose, and a portion of the roof is missing. The first priority is to have an expert assess the Olsen Barn and create a work plan for improvements. As soon as the assessment is complete and additional donations are raised, we hope to complete the repairs by the end of November.

Can you help us shore up this beautiful icon?

To make a donation or pledge for barn repairs please contact Karen Kleven, Development Director at 530-283-5758 or  [email protected]

Thank you for helping us care for this special place and its history.
