Nativity has been involved with the  WELCOME TABLE at Skyland Methodist Church for 2 1/2 years now.  During that time we have seen the numbers of guests gradually climb from the 30's to the 60's and above.  This is very encouraging to the board and those who are committed to making this a real service to our south Asheville-Arden-Fletcher communities.

Sometimes our enthusiasm for an "old" commitment grows dull or apathetic; but people are still needing to be served.  Nativity started with a list of 67 volunteers and is now down to 47.  That number should be more than sufficient to cover our duties each month, considering we need about 16 people to work each time.

I'm asking each of you to re-think your commitment.  If you would sign up for a weekend every 3 months, we would have a full "staff" .  Also, it helps alot if you check your schedules and sign up early in the month.

If you feel you cannot help any more, please call 687-8265 or E-mail [email protected].

If you know of someone else who would like to get involved in this ministry, please let me know.

In  this Sunday's  Gospel, we are told that Jesus began to teach a very large crowd that had gathered by the sea.  He began to teach them in parables about the kingdom of God.   Jesus talks of scattered seed and amazing yield that is a product of God's hand.   We are reminded that God's Word is planted in our lives through the waters of Holy Baptism.  We are reminded that through the Holy Spirit the planted Word will grow, flourish and produce abundantly in our lives.
