FEBRUARY WINTER INSTITUTES FOR

SUCCESS PARTNERS  YEAR 2 & VETERANS

In January, the OSL team delivered six Success Partners Veteran Winter Institutes across the state. The Institutes had three major goals:

  1. Veteran schools received Modules 14 & 15, with activities allowing their staff to evaluate their current Parent School Partnership Plan and complete the 2015-2016 PSPP.
  2. Implementation of the Teaching and Learning Exchange. Schools received training on all of the newest functions including attendance, lunch count and enhanced administrative functions.
  3. Networking between administrators - our veterans become the 'wisdom teachers', where we learn with and  from one another.

Pictured are some administrators practicing "Crossing the Hot Chocolate Swamp" team building exercise!

This article examines multiple studies and over 200 interviews with leaders to explain how organizations who can do these things have one thing in common: uplifting leadership.  FREE APP - build automaticity in basic facts!

Zearn, an education technology non-profit organization founded by some of the greatest social entrepreneurs and education reformers ever (David Levin, Norman Atkins, Evan Rudall, David Saltzman, Dacia Toll, etc.), has just released Impoppable, a new iOS math game designed for 8-12 year olds.

It is designed to build skills including automaticity and flexibility with key facts. The user pops bubbles by creating multiplication and division equations. I played with it and it's simple, highly addictive and fun!

Impoppable went up on the iTunes Store earlier this week. It's 100% free for anyone. Download, play, and share it with your friends. Go to www.zearn.org/impoppable to download it and learn more about the fun and math inside the game. Here's a one-minute video about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVkwtRpi-lI

If you like the game, please help the Zearn team spread the word by sharing it on Facebook and Twitter, and with anyone who might enjoy it.

Happy popping!
