WPS Student Account Policy

Wayland Public Schools is committed to the effective integration and meaningful use of instructional and information technologies to support, enrich, and extend student learning throughout the curriculum. Through integrated learning experiences, students will develop the technology literacy needed to acquire and manage knowledge, to succeed in school, and to thrive in an ever-changing, globally competitive world. In the Wayland Public Schools, all members of our school community will use technology to excel as learners and develop as leaders. Technology is a means for learning, not an end product of learning. Therefore, technology will play a vital role in a personal 21st century process of teaching and learning that incorporates critical thinking, problem solving, creativity, collaboration, contextual learning and information technology

Many of the digital resources used in classrooms require online student accounts. Recognizing the importance of using quality sources that adhere to the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), teachers submit a request form before creating accounts with students who are 13 years old or younger. This provides both Curriculum Leaders and the Technology Department the opportunity to vet the resource for rigor, compliance and compatibility. Once approved, teachers will then notify parents about the tool before students login at school.

In addition to specific classroom sites, there are many online resources deployed at the district level to support curriculum standards. Students will receive accounts for the following:

Elementary

Middle School

From Peg Trentini, PTO President

7th and 8th grade Back-to-School night is this Thursday.

Please consider assisting your parent representatives in offering dinner for the 7th and 8th grade teachers/staff before the event!  An email was circulated last week with a link to Volunteerspot (for the dinner) - we hope you will check it out and see if there is an opportunity for you. Here is the link again. There will be a PTO table in the front lobby at BTS night.  We welcome you to stop by and say hello as well as participate in our annual appeal.  With your contribution of $25.00 you will receive an "All School Directory". Your contributions help provide cultural enrichment programs, mini-grants for classrooms and after school clubs, faculty luncheons and more. We will also have WMS car magnets available for purchase. We can accept cash or checks on BTS night. If you would like to make your contribution by credit card, please visit our website at www.waylandpto.org.  We will have a directory ready for you on Thursday evening!

Attention 6th grade parents - if you have some free time this Thursday night during the 7th/8th grade BTS night - we would love your assistance!  A few members of our board have 8th graders!  We would love to be able to have an extra person or two man the table during the presentations.  Please email Peg Trentini if you are able to stop by for a bit.  [email protected]
