THE PARTNERSHIPS WE BUILD ARE STRONGER THAN STEEL

SidePlate Bolted SMF

Seismic Testing by the University of California-San Diego Confirms the Performance of SidePlate Bolted™ Special Moment Frame

The rumors are true:  our SidePlate field-bolted connection will soon be ready for use in Special Moment Frames.  This option has no field-welding at all and has been a huge hit in low-seismic areas, with contractors and erectors saying they're saving days to weeks of time in the field.  UCSD has now performed four (4) full-scale seismic tests on the connection, including one with an HSS column pictured above, and the results have been fantastic.  The connection easily exceeded SMF requirements on each test, with the first going to 9% rotation before beam failure.

We anticipate that this SidePlate field-bolted SMF option will be ready for use on seismic projects starting in mid-January.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM SIDEPLATE
We're honored and grateful to work with so many great partners

2015 has been quite memorable at SidePlate:  celebrating our 20th anniversary, another year of double-digit growth, testing our field-bolted SMF, and much more.

It's easy to get caught up in the whirlwind and "need it now" of today's world, and we're not immune to that.  We do take time to reflect, though, and, while we're proud of the buildings we've helped construct over 20+ years, we take greater pride in the relationships and friendships that we've built.

A special thanks to all of our partners.  Best wishes for a happy holiday season and a safe and prosperous 2016.
