Administrator's Corner
Students are encouraged to dress up in costumes on Friday, October 30, but there are some restrictions:
-
no masks (face paints are okay, but students must be recognizable by teachers and staff)
-
no weapons of any kind (light sabers, toy guns, plastic swords)
-no provocative clothing
-students must wear IDs (as is always the case)
If students are not in compliance with the above restrictions, they will be sent to the passroom and/or asked to modify their costume to make it appropriate.
No school Monday, November 2 (teacher comp day for October conference nights)
Attendance update: if students arrive at school later than 7:40 a.m., they will not be admitted to their first period class but will instead be sent to the passroom. Thanks for your support in getting all students here on time.

Scary Movie Night - Tonight! October 29, 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Join Leadership for a scary movie night on October 29th!
Tickets will be sold the week of October 26
th. Tickets will be $3 and that comes with a bag of popcorn. We will have five chaperones in the auditorium that night. Class of 2018 will be selling candy until 6:15, popcorn will also be served during that time. Candy will be $1. Students are expected to be out of the building by 8:15pm. We are looking to have some fun right before Halloween, so we will be showing a scary movie. Spartans, get ready to enjoy the night!

Congratulations to TJ's ASPIRE Athlete of the Week, Justin Vigil!
|
On October 15
th, Thomas Jefferson's Justin Vigil was named the ASPIRE Athlete of the Week! Justin was nominated for his achievements on the football team, his hard work in the classroom, and his involvement in the community.
"Justin is an athlete that every coach dreams of having. He's smart, dedicated, and most of all, a class act both on and off the field," stated Thomas Jefferson Football Coach Matt Nicolo. Justin started the season as wide receiver for the Thomas Jefferson Spartans, but when the team's quarterback went down due to injury, Justin stepped up to fill the role. "He basically had to learn to play the role in a week," said Coach Nicolo. In his first game as a quarterback, Justin threw for 85 yards and rushed for over 146 yards including a touchdown run against George Washington High School. Justin was All-League WR as a sophomore and carries a 3.6 GPA at Thomas Jefferson. He's an active member of the DECA chapter at TJ and has dedicated his time and efforts to several community service events including Adopt-a-Family and Trick-or-Treat Street for middle school students. "His teammates consider him to be someone they look up to and the coaches all agree that he is invaluable to our program as an individual and program leader," concluded Coach Nicolo."
Justin received 2,891 votes during the ASPIRE Athlete of the Week program, edging out Dakota Ridge's running back Jeremy Lujan who finished with 2,620 votes, and George Washington Linebacker Adrian King. An interview with Justin was featured on Mile High Sports Show on FM 104.3 The Fan to announce his win!

Another Great Year of Spartan Tennis

The TJ tennis team wraps up an impressive season.
As the season came to an end, the TJ's boys' tennis team continued their winning ways, as they have lost few matches over the past two years. The 2014 season was a success as the boys finished with a 9-4 record. This season showed just as much promise, as the Spartans finished the regular season with a solid record of 10-3.
