Sad News...

Joyce Baker, an EWGA Sacramento member from 2002-08 passed away this past week.  Joyce was our Chapter Champion in 2002 and 2003.  She suffered a stroke in 2008 that prevented her from returning to the game that she loved so passionately.  As an outlet for that passion, she became an accomplished water color painter.

Her memorial service will be held September 12th at 1:00 at the  First Baptist Church, 8939 East Stockton Blvd., Elk Grove 95624.

New Policy:  Guest/Non-Members and Observers
The Chapter has developed a policy for guests/non-members play and observers to ensure that there is consistency and fair and efficient Chapter operations.  The following has been approved by the Chapter Board of Directors and is effective immediately:

EWGA Sacramento will limit guest participation to two events in a calendar year, excluding social events. For non-social events, observers and non-members will be prohibited from accompanying any player.

The Board also approved an Event Release and Indemnification Agreement that must be signed by all non-members prior to participation in EWGA events.  That waiver will be available at all EWGA events.
Welcome to Golf and Supervised Practice - Congrats New Golfers!
Each Thursday night in August seven members and guests participated in four sessions of learning and practice at William Land Golf Course.  The classes on the first and third Thursdays were taught by Samantha Clawson, LPGA teaching professional.  On the alternate Thursdays, our wonderful volunteer mentors Pam Katros, Deana Frandsen and Kris Corbridge helped participants practice what they learned by leading fun drills and competitions.  Confident in their new skills, these ladies have scheduled their first beginners' play date at Bing Maloney Executive Nine later this month!  In their own words...

"As a new member of the EWGA I truly enjoyed the beginning golf classes that were offered. They were informative, helpful and fun. It was great to meet and work with the EWGA mentors who volunteered their time to assist us and offer expert advice. I have met a great group of Ladies and am looking forward to more fun and learning. Thank you all."   Lorey Delmater, EWGA Member.

"As a first time golfer, it was great learning experience.  The things I enjoyed most were learning the proper golf etiquette, the different techniques of hand and foot placement, and the awesome mentors who shared years of wisdom...  I'm looking forward to using what I have learned on the golf course." -   LaRhonda Sayles-Willis, First-Time Guest.

"I greatly improve my game with each and every supervised practice!!!" -  Nanette Nelson, EWGA Member.

"The instructor, mentors and host were all amazingly patient and informative. Their tips worked!   To hear the ball sailing or going in the hole to the cheers of my co-instructees made the practice such fun... I can hardly wait to get back out on the links." -  Denise Browne, First-Time Guest.
