Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District: Last week the GCCCD Board of Trustees probably got a little more than they bargained for when they decided to bring the idea of a PLA up to area residents.  And that would be exactly what they got, with a recall notice thrown in to boot!

We need you to contact the Board of Trustees NOW to voice your concerns of a PLA. We need to keep the pressure on! Contact info can be found HERE

Sweetwater Union High School District: On Monday, October 12, the SUHSD Board voted unanimously to approve PLA "negotiations" for the remaining work scheduled to take place under their Measure O bond. Over 100 contractors, workers, and apprentices, as well as members of the community, showed up to let the board know their opinions on PLAs. CFEC's Eric Christen was among them and his testimony can be viewed here.

Alameda Unified School District: This district, in an area notorious for fiscal mismanagement and poorly run schools, on October 12,  voted 3-0 to begin negotiating a PLA for their $160 million bond. We will continue to monitor these "negotiations" and see what kind of document is brought back to the board for a vote.

Salinas Union High School District: This board continues to feel the ramifications of their PLA vote last month. This mailer has been sent to voters in the area to remind that when election time arrives they need to consider new politicians, ones who will actually put kids and taxpayers ahead of union bosses. Why would they be doing the bidding of union bosses? Because they received donations from them, lots of donations.

Thanks to the hard work of the merit shop community, especially ABC of Northern California's Nicole Goehring, EBMUD is not just rolling over for unions in their effort to get a PLA placed on the Chabot Dam Seismic Improvement Project. Unions have rejected a sub-committees attempts to actually create a fair PLA that would include such provisions as fairness on dual benefits and forcing workers to be sent through a union hiring hall. The issue was heard at yesterday's Board of Directors meeting and at that time the board direction was to keep negotiating.

High Speed Rail Report Shows Costs Will be Higher and Timeline Longer than Promised
The L.A. Times reports  on what every sane person already knows and that is the California High Speed Rail project is a scam of epic proportions.
