Bureau of Substance Abuse Services. The Helpline is a comprehensive call center and website that provides information and referrals to substance abuse prevention, treatment and recovery support services for those struggling with addiction, peo
ple in recovery, families, friends, and service providers.
At a time when the
opioid epidemic has become a public health cr
isis in our Commonwealth, the Helpline provides a crit
ical link between our communities and available substance abuse resources. In the last year, nearly 21,000 people called the Helpline and 143,000 visited the website.
SERVICES PROVIDED

Information & Referral Specialists - many of whom are in long-term rec
o
very - are exp
erienced, dedicated, and
highly-tra
ined professionals
equipped to assess and respond to the needs of cal
lers with compassion
and understanding. We are available every day to educate callers about the disease of addiction; listen for and communicate
about complex behavioral issues; and help guide callers to a range of treatment options that ma
y be right for them, including
detox, medication assisted treatment, residential tre
atment, and recovery support. We can now access information on bed availability for state-licen
sed detox, clinical stabilization, and transitional support services, providing even more information to help guide callers toward available treatment.
The Helpline website provides a searchable database so visitors can find services
available in their communities. The website also includes up
coming events
and trainings, links to
key information and
programs, an
d news and a blog about recent substance abuse topics. In the coming months, Helpline call center and web services will continue to expand, offering even more information, resources, and options for engaging with our team of specialists.

HEALTH is POWER TOOLKIT RELEASED
The
Health is Power toolkit provides positive sexual health messaging.
Developed by HRiA for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Health is Power provides posters, postcards, web banners and blog content, and Facebook and Twitter content, for partner organizations to use and disseminate to an audience of young African-American men. The full toolkit has been posted on the American Sexual Health Association website.
