Welcome to India's start-up industry, the youngest and fastest-growing in the world.  According to industry body NASSCOM, there are more than 4,000 start-ups in India, with 28 the average age of founders. Money is also pouring in; $5 billion was invested in start-ups this year alone, a 125 percent year-on-year rise. A young population, increasing smartphone penetration and social media have all been drivers of change, empowering Indians to think outside the box.

TECH LIVE 

The availability of low-cost smartphones and increasing mobile broadband will help India overtake the US as the world's second largest Internet user base by 2016, according to US-based firm eMarketer.  India's online population will touch 283.8 million by 2016, as compared to the US' 264.9 million.  eMarketer predicts that by 2018 India will have 346.3 million Internet users against the US' 274.1 million. Globally, Internet users will surpass 3 billion, or 42.4 percent of the world population, in 2015.

Indian Actors on American TV: It's Happening
 
The latest example of Indians thriving on American televison is Aziz Ansari's critically acclaimed Netflix series "Master of None." The comedy, which tackles modern dating, technology and friendship, has debuted to rave reviews.  The comedian's parents, who play themselves in several episodes, emigrated to the United States from Tamil Nadu, India. Meanwhile,  Mindy Kaling, born in America to a Tamil father and a Bengali mother, has a show on FOX. The American-born actors have been joined on the small screen by Indian actors Nimrat Kaur on "Homeland," Rahul Khanna on "The Americans" and Priyanka Chopra on "Quantico."
