will host a Stewardship Workshop from 9am to noon on Saturday, Apr. 18 at Ark & Dove PC.
Bay Area Disciples MG will host a dinner meeting from 6-9pm on Tuesday, May 19 at Harundale PC.
Susquehanna Parish MG will meet from 12:30pm-2pm on Thursday, Apr. 16 at First PC of Bel Air. The Susquehanna Parish MG will also host a communications workshop from 9:30am to 3:30pm at Grove Presbyterian Church in Aberdeen. Lunch will be provided.
West Side Story MG will host a communication workshop entitled "Ancient Principles, Modern Practices," led by communication specialist Sue Washburn, from 9:30am to 4pm on Saturday, May 2 at Christ Memorial Presbyterian Church in Columbia.
Wild, Wild West MG will host a Habitat for Humanity event in Hagerstown on Saturday, Apr. 18.

by Catherine Blacka, Stated Clerk of the Presbytery of Baltimore Do you know how many people it takes to fill all of the positions we have on Presbytery committees and commissions? Each year we need to fill thirty positions that become vacant just because many of those who are serving have come to the end of their three-year terms; and, too, there are always a few other vacancies to fill. In our Presbytery, we seek to elect Ruling Elders to half of the positions and Teaching Elders to the other half. There are currently 22 vacancies across the Presbytery's leadership and administrative bodies. They include our three commissions: Thriving Congregations, Spiritual Leader Development, and Reconciliation; as well as, various committees such as Personnel, Nominating, Committee on Ministry, Committee on Preparation for Ministry, the Permanent Judicial Commission and the Trustees of the Presbytery. Additionally, we nominate, in alternate years, a Ruling Elder and then a Teaching Elder to serve as vice-moderator and moderator. The Presbytery Nominating Committee is responsible for filling most of these positions. And, in turn, the Steering Cabinet, through its Appointments Committee, finds nominees for Personnel and the Nominating Committee. However, each year, members of the Nominating Committee and the Appointments Committee face the same problem - they don't know Ruling Elders from churches other than their own. Most of those who agree to serve on committees and commissions find volunteering spiritually rewarding, a reverent act of dedication to their church and faith. However, pressing the same people into
church service year after year can lead to burnout. We need new people with new ideas. People who can share different perspectives on the vision of the Presbytery. You can help in this effort by volunteering or suggesting the names of Ruling Elders and Teaching Elders to serve on any of the Presbytery's committees or commissions. We want to fill as many vacant positions as possible by the May 7 Gathering at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Hagerstown. The bulk of their work will be done during the next two weeks before the Gathering, so please respond as soon as possible. Save the date! The 2015 Pastors' Retreat will be held at Bon Secours Retreat Center from Wednesday Apr. 22 to Thursday Apr. 23. Our featured presenter, TE Theresa Cho (Saint John's Presbyterian Church in San Francisco) will discuss how to integrate art in worship.
A Spring Gathering for Retired Clergy and Clergy Spouses will be held from 10am to noon on Wednesday, May 6. We will gather at Charlestown Retirement Community in Catonsville for friendship, fellowship and a conversation about "A Political Theology of Climate Change". Catonsville Concerts at 3 presents the Catonsville High School Steel Band in concert at 3pm on Sunday, Apr. 19, 2015 at Catonsville Presbyterian Church. The 20-member band features Caribbean-style steel drums and a rhythm section, with a repertoire spanning reggae to rock to jazz. The concert is free. For details call 410.747.6180.
Faith Presbyterian Church will host a Trombone Choir Concert featuring the Morgan State and Towson University Trombone Choirs at 3pm on Sunday, Apr. 19.
The Savvy Seniors Forum at Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church, will have a forum on "Planting the Seeds for Downsizing" at 6:30pm on Tuesday, Apr. 21. Kathleen Douglas will lead discussion about the physical, emotional, financial and spiritual aspects of downsizing. Maryland Presbyterian Church invites everyone to "Life Overlooked," a unique exhibition of photographs showing the diversity of life on earth and reinforcing the need to protect even the smallest creatures.
