 It is with joy that the Presbytery introduces Terry V. Jackson as its new Director of Finance. Apr. 8 will be Terry's first day in the office.
Terry comes to us following five years as the treasurer of Bladensburg Township in Prince George's County.
He has over 17 years of experience working with organizations in various positions of finance; as well as, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Morgan State University and a Master's Degree in Professional Accounting from Strayer University.
Terry grew up in northeast Baltimore City, just fifteen minutes away from the Presbytery's office. He attends St. Ann's Catholic Church. Please take the opportunity to welcome Terry as the newest member of our staff serving the congregations and clergy of the Presbytery of Baltimore.

by William Nickels, III John's gospel begins with a striking assertion, a pregnant image: The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it. And as his gospel unfolds, we find it brimming with stories that illustrate this - some of which we'll be attending to throughout this Holy Week, and one of which will surely inspire a joyful celebration this coming Easter morning - the Day of Resurrection! There is darkness aplenty in this world, in our communities, and even within ourselves - we can all attest and confess to that. But there also is light, light no darkness can overcome, light eternal. It is the light of our risen Lord. And by God's mercy, we live in that light. Wherever we are, in every situation we're facing, every joy, every challenge, every loss or gain, alone or together, we are in that unfailing light; we are living in light of that light. And it shows. It's clear to me. Traveling here and there among you, visiting churches, talking with elders, meeting with Ministry Groups and sharing in our common work, I see how profoundly this area's Presbyterians are affected by living in the light of the resurrected Christ. I see churches rising with renewed resolve to be the body of Christ in their neighborhoods. I see youngsters being given the gift of faith and young adults rising into mature, engaged discipleship. I see Christ's work of reconciliation being furthered through ministries of many kinds. I see congregational leaders offering one another encouragement, lifting up challenges and sharing resources to strengthen one another's ministries. I see people praying passionately together for the Church's faithfulness, the restraint of evil and the redemption of the world. I see God working marvelously within and among and through you. I see undeniable light in the darkness. And I am grateful for that, thankful to be serving with you, and eager to see what God has in store for the Presbytery of Baltimore as we continue our journey with Christ. May this week be for you, and for all with whom we worship and serve, a Holy Week indeed. I wish you all the best in Christ. |

Save the date! The 2015 Pastors' Retreat will be held at Bon Secours Retreat Center from Wednesday Apr. 22 to Thursday Apr. 23. Our featured presenter, TE Theresa Cho (Saint John's Presbyterian Church in San Francisco) will discuss how to integrate art in worship.

An Easter Sunrise Service will be held in Federal Hill Park, overlooking Baltimore's Inner Harbor, at 6am on Sunday, April 5. Springfield Presbyterian Church will host a concert featuring Ken Kolodner (hammered dulcimer among other instruments), and Elke Baker (National Scottish Fiddle Champion- fiddle & violin) at 3pm on Sunday, Apr. 12. Ken and Elke have performed together for several years and just released a new joint CD, "Out of the Woods." Maryland Presbyterian Church invites everyone to "Life Overlooked," a unique exhibition of photographs showing the diversity of life on earth and reinforcing the need to protect even the smallest creatures. Theodora and Mark Markham, both graduates of The Peabody Conservatory of Music, mark their return to Baltimore with a program featuring works by Handel, Strauss, Obradors, Gershwin, Porter and others. Concert will be held 8pm on Friday, Apr. 24 at First & Franklin Presbyterian Church in Baltimore. A Meet-the-Artists reception will follow the performance. Tickets are $20 for general admission and $10 for students; available in advance on the church's website (Paypal) and at the door (cash).
