In The Loop Ministry Group Hosts MusicFest 2015

by TE Deborah McEachran

     Hunting Ridge Presbyterian Church

Our dozen churches located in the loop (inside the inner loop of 695 beltway) have made a commitment to draw our diverse membership together around music with our first ever MusicFest on Saturday, Apr. 25, 2015, from 6-8:30 pm at Central Presbyterian Church.  Our hope is that this event will attract and excite young adults for the good news of Christ, both within our congregations and in the community, developing connections with neighbors across the city.   The proceeds will provide support for the summer camp program at one of our In the Loop Churches-Knox.  Together we are bringing:

  • Jonathan Nelson, who grew up in Baltimore and has had a huge impact over the last 12 years on contemporary praise and worship music alone and with his group, Purpose.   His chart topping "My Name is Victory" was cited the most singable song by Gospel Today magazine for 2008.
  • Roses 'n Rust, formed in 2013 by Russ Causey and Anna B, blends contemporary and classic rock, pop and country covers with a soul and sensibility that makes you feel like you have been listening to them next door all your life.
  • A combined urban choir directed by Madison Avenue Director of Music, Bruce Henderson, singing two praise songs that you can join in with!  Should you be interested in joining the choir, please come to Madison Avenue for rehearsals on Saturdays Apr. 11 and 18 at 12 noon; and Wednesday Apr. 22 at 6 pm.

Invite your neighbor, your babysitter, your boss, your pastor!  Get your tickets ($20) online at http://tinyurl.com/m7qrdf8 , or call the Presbytery office at 410-433-2012 or any of the In the Loop churches--  Brown Memorial Park Avenue, Cherry Hill, Dickey Memorial, First and Franklin, Grace, Hunting Ridge, Kenwood, Knox, Light Street, Lochearn, Madison Avenue, Trinity.  To hear music samples: check out HRPC website:

We see this as a way to celebrate a variety of musical genres with people of all ages, races, classes,  and ethnicities.  Come join us!  The In the Loop Ministry Group co-conveners are RE Barbara Yancy (Lochearn) and TE Carrie Finch Burriss (Kenwood).
