5 things to do before you start the Lake Ontario 300
And it's here!
1. Print your SIs
Know where you're going, people! We are sharing the Lake with the 2015 Pan Am games and the course has been changed from last year's to accommodate that. Find the 2015 LO300 Sailing Instructions available for
download here on Yachtscoring and print or save an electronic copy to bring on board. There will be no hard copies distributed on site.
2. Know your competition: Get the fleet splits
Who do you have to beat? Click
here to find the LO300 Scratch Sheet, and print out or save your own electronic copy. There will be no hard copies available on site.
3. Join us for pre-race events on Friday
Check in at PCYC between 10 a.m. and 7:45 p.m. and submit your race forms including the Crew Overboard Recovery Drill Certificate, signed Lake Ontario Offshore Special Regulations Certificate and LO300 Sail Plan (available in the documents section of the
Registration and Race Document website).
Sip a cocktail courtesy of Mount Gay Rum and their friendly mixologists who'll be uncorking their special bottles of Mount Gay Black Barrel and Mount Gay Eclipse Rum to prepare Dark & Stormys, ginger-infused cocktails and more from 3 p.m to 5 p.m.
Shop for last-minute swag or boat bits at Fogh Boat Supplies, who'll be set up on the lawn Friday 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. (and again Saturday morning).
Enjoy a barbeque dinner: Served 7 p.m. - 9 p.m., choice of chicken, ribs or vegetarian option for $24 inclusive, credit or debit only. (Please note regular bar menu will not be available).
Be at the Skipper's Meeting, 7 p.m. sharp! Attendance is mandatory, so get there for the weather briefing and important announcements.
4. Get an early start
Start Saturday morning with a hearty - or healthy - breakfast courtesy of our wonderful sponsor, Sperry Top-Sider. Free to LO300 participants, or $13.50 for non-racers.
Check out your daily weather report from WRI, the official weather provider for this year's Lake Ontario 300 Challenge. Get it on the LOOR.CA website, or sign up for a complementary trial of their seaweather service at: https://www.seaweather.net/events.php?r=lakeontario
Rafts will start to break up around 10 a.m. The first gun, for solo sailors, is scheduled for 10:25, other fleets to follow.
5. Share the YB race tracking link
Share your racing experience with friends and family through the YB race tracker. Look for the link on the
LOOR.CA website, or link directly to the open YB Tracking Race Viewer here:
