Good News Update 136 - 4 September 2015
Inspiring Fathers, Encouraging Families

The Canberra Declaration's goal is to make a stand for Faith, Freedom and Family. We are constantly fighting against the erosion and destruction of these important values. Our goal, as much as possible, is to make a stand in the positive. That is what we did last week, with the exciting release of the WAR ROOM movie (more about that later).

This Sunday, 6 September, is Father's Day and along with Mother's Day, it's a day worth celebrating. Father's Day gives us all an opportunity to make a stand for the positive. We encourage you to celebrate it with your family and speak words of hope and encouragement to the fathers you know. May we all celebrate the joys of fatherhood and family this coming weekend.

This is also a time for us to reach out to single mums and fatherless children and take them into our families and show them the love of our Father in Heaven. Psalm 68, verse 5 says that God is a father to the fatherless and a defender of widows in His holy dwelling.

To celebrate Father's Day 2015 the Dads4Kids Fatherhood Foundation is organising the 'Dads4Kids Instagram Photo Competition'. We at the Canberra Declaration believe this is an opportunity to get behind a charity that is reaching out to our communities to fulfil the words of Malachi 4:6, to turn the hearts of the fathers to their children and the hearts of the children to their fathers.

The mission statement of the Dads4Kids Instagram Photo Competition is Inspire Fathers and Encourage Families, a goal worthy of your support. This is an occasion for you, your friends and your family to capture favourite moments between dads and their children and win $1,000 prize money.

PS. Thank you for your help with the movie WAR ROOM. It is exceeding all expectations. We include a full report below. Because of the excitement surrounding the movie the Canberra Declaration team has decided to extend our competition for the best 5 comments about WAR ROOM on our Facebook page for a further seven days.
PS: Victory for the War Room!

WAR ROOM was the number one Independent Movie and the number 10 movie in Australia this week. You have to compare apples with apples. The other 9 movies were Hollywood backed blockbusters with big budgets. WAR ROOM, from our research, is the most successful Independent Christian film in Australian's History, barring the 2004 Passion of the Christ which while also independent was in virtual form (with Mel Gibson producing and a 45 Million dollar production and marketing budget) a Hollywood blockbuster in a different incarnation. Bear in mind that the average big Hollywood Blockbuster opens on over 600 Australian screens

WAR ROOM was released on 32 screens with a screen average of $8,155 per screen in takings which made it the most profitable movie per screen in the top ten shown this week in Australia. All these facts point to the miracle of prayer behind the WAR ROOM movie and the assertion by the Kendricks' brothers that all the glory should go to God. Soli Deo Gloria.

WAR ROOM had a minuscule $3 million budget but is outperforming the best that Hollywood can produce on a pro rata basis. Bear in mind that the average Hollywood blockbuster has about $100 million budget. Because of the blessing of God the sum of the parts in WAR ROOM is greater than the whole.

The real miracle in this David and Goliath battle with the decadent Hollywood blockbusters is the fact that there has been 61 recorded salvations and innumerable marriages restored in the USA. This is also happening here in Australia. Through this exciting movie a whole movement of prayer is being born in the cinemas of our nation which up till now, in the main, have been outlets of darkness and decadence.

The scripture which is shown on the screen as the movie finishes tells the story well. 2 Chronicles 7:14, If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
