A Casual and Comfortable Church
Some people view going to church as a very uncomfortable experience where a ritual happens with experiences and songs that are hard to follow. This Sunday Ekklesia will meet in the Pavilion as casual family groups around tables to eat, share stories, sing a few energetic and inspiring songs and pray for one another. The mood will be upbeat and informal. This gathering will be a great opportunity to bring friends who have been uncomfortable with traditional church but are seeking to connect with a family of genuine believers who are just like them. Sitting around a table with a cup of coffee is a comforting experience for the typical Pacific Northwesterner and this is what Ekklesia will be like on Sunday! We will also have some great food provided by Ekklesia people. Rumor has it that Francene Criswell is bringing a smoked turkey made in her amazing "Big Bertha" barbecue trailer. You won't want to miss this experience.

Serving Thousands at the Armory

Next Monday and Tuesday (November 23rd & 24th) the Helpline Food Bank will again be providing their annual Thanksgiving food distribution to over 1,000 family units. Beginning at 10:00am each day hundreds of people will line up outside the National Guard Armory building on Mile Hill to receive their Thanksgiving food donation. Some will come as a family of 3 and many will come as large family units of 7 or 8 people. Ekklesia will be partnering with many other community volunteers to help load baskets and deliver them to the waiting families in the parking lot. If you can only work a few hours, great! You can work however long you are able. Children are welcome to help out also. All adults will need to fill out the volunteer background check document provided by the food bank. Blank documents will be provided on Sunday morning at the Pavilion for all adults interested in helping out with the food distribution on either Monday or Tuesday. Each day the food will be distributed from 10:00am until 4:00pm, so consider how you or your family might contribute to this service partnership.

Ekklesia Volunteers at the Food Bank

Last Saturday several Ekklesia volunteers gathered at the Helpline Food Bank to help with their annual Thanksgiving Postal food drive. Thousands of pounds of donated food arrived from the many postal delivery routes and our volunteers helped pack storage boxes filled with the donated food. Feeding people is a primary community service that Ekklesia has dedicated itself. Thank you to all the volunteers who have so willingly given of their time.

It is a great time to bless and connect with new people! Lisa and I have been so blessed by our supporters and the Kairos Church Planting network. We returned from a week of rest in Southern California and a beautiful cruise to Catalina and Ensenada. We came home to a wonderful group of people on mission for Jesus and we are glad to be here! We are also excited about the up coming weeks and months as new people become part of Ekklesia and new people find Jesus. Thank you for your dedication and support!
