8th GRADE AWARDS BANQUET: Monday night we had a very nice dinner, and then honored our graduating 8th grade students with a variety of awards and scholarships. This evening was a wonderful reminder of the quality of the students at St. Teresa School. The evening ended with a video of the student's time at St. Teresa, and was an outstanding reminder of the many wonderful activities the students were a part of. There were many smiles, and yes a few tears, but everyone enjoyed sharing the evening with our 8th graders.
8th GRADE GRADUATION: Thursday night we celebrated a beautiful prayer service with our eighth grade students at their graduation ceremony. The evening was a nice ending to the student's time at St. Teresa School. The staff and I would like to wish all of our graduates all the best in their future endeavors, and while they may not be attending St. Teresa School any longer they will always be a part of our school family.
ALTHOFF SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS: Congratulations to Paul Fries for receiving the George Martz Award, and Justin Kaemmerer and Grace Hrabusicky for being selected as two of the Glenn Schott award winners. These three students along with eight of their classmates will be attending Althoff next school year. Congratulations Paul, Justin, and Grace.
TEACHER & BRUCE K. YOUNG SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS: Congratulations to Lauren Cerbin and Hope Reeves for being selected as this year's winners of the St. Teresa Teacher's Scholarships. The scholarship is given annually to current 5th-7th grade students, who have exemplified what being a St. Teresa Tiger means. Each spring, information is sent home about the registration process. Make sure to look for the information next year, and congratulations once again to Lauren and Hope for being selected this year.
PERPETUAL HELP SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS: Abby Brandenburger, Anna Burns, Ben Flynn, and Kyle Sullivan were awarded the Perpetual Help Scholarships this year. The four students will be attending Althoff Catholic, SLUH, and Belleville East as the ladies of Perpetual Help decided to change the qualifications this year to include students going to any high school, both Catholic and public. Congratulations to the four recipients.
MINI-GOLF UPDATE: Last Friday at the 8th grade trip to Hannibal, I played a round of mini-golf with a group of the 8th graders. Besides being the most interesting round of "golf" in my life there were a number of outstanding shots. Abby Brandenburger, Ireland Keen, and Olivia Crader all made a hole in one. Chrissie "Tin Cup" Brown was steady the whole round. Bailiegh Gold resembled Happy Gilmore's putting exploits.
UNIFORM UPDATE: The final pieces are being finalized now and will be sent home next week. We are trying to consider a number of things as we make this transition; including look, cost, style, student choice, and school spirit. I am hopeful that the final uniform policy will be able to accomplish all of those goals.
JEANS FOR TROOPS DAY: Thank you to everyone who participated in this one day fundraiser that supported our deployed military. The students raised $263.00, and several students and I presented the donation to Mr. Chip Shaffer of Hope for Heroes. Mr. Shaffer shared several stories with the students and I about how past donations have been used, and was most grateful for our contribution. The monetary donation along with the cards the students made will serve as a small token of our appreciation to our service men and women.
END OF SCHOOL: Just a couple of reminders for the close of school. Please make sure to return all library books to Mrs. Fries, settle up any outstanding balances you may have, and return any registration paperwork for next school year. Thank you for your attention to these matters.
LAST DAY OF SCHOOL (MAY 20TH): Remember that the last day of school is an 11:00 A.M. dismissal, AND EXTENDED CARE WILL BE SERVING PIZZA THAT DAY FOR LUNCH.
