Volunteering is an act of love. Plain and simple.
When you give your time and dedicate yourself to the well-being of others, you are doing it from a place of love. And we in turn love you for it!
Around here, we know that love comes in many forms and we appreciate how much it means when you sign up for a project, show up and show some love. This month, share the love and find a project that really touches you. Whether it be painting at Creative Arts Therapy in Wayne or caring for Mother Nature with Earth Keepers in Morris County, your perfect project is just waiting for you!

Creative Arts Therapy in Wayne
Whether it's painting a picture or playing your favorite instrument, you can make change while you make art! Volunteer at the brand new project: Creative Arts Therapy to create with seniors this February! Now that's music to our ears.
Join this rewarding project
every other Monday afternoon from 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm.

Earth Keepers in Morris County
Show a little love to Mother Earth with Earth Keepers. What's more romantic than a stroll through the park...weeding and mulching? Join a group of passionate volunteers as they maintain the trails, plant flowers, and remove invasive species of plants.
After a short winter hiatus, this project is back once a month, starting on
Saturday, February 6 from 9:30 am - 12:30 pm
., weather permitting.

Join Us for Mardi Gras Magic!
Mardi Gras Magic,
our new party celebrating the best of volunteerism, will be letting Les Bon Temps Rouler on Thursday, March 10
th
from 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. at Crystal Plaza in Livingston, NJ.
We will be honoring Volunteer of the Year Millicent Jackson, Community Partner of the Year Planting Seeds of Hope, and Corporate Partner of the Year Prudential.
Guests will enjoy an open bar, delicious hors d'oeuvres, a full Cajun-style dinner buffet, live Dixieland jazz, hurricanes, New Orleans desserts and a silent and raffle auction.

Shaun Malviya
Shaun describes his initial interest in Jersey Cares as a "no-brainer."
Acutely aware of the hunger and homelessness problems near his community, this recent business school graduate from Dallas regularly volunteers with Marketplace in East Brunswick. It didn't take long for Shaun to step up and become a volunteer leader. To anyone just starting out as a volunteer, he recommends:
"Just start somewhere."

Project Coordinators gain leadership skills, meet new people, and play an active role in shaping Jersey Cares volunteer projects. The Jersey Cares Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service
The Jersey Cares MLK Day of Service engaged 1,300 volunteers this year in more than 30 projects across 12 New Jersey Counties. Volunteers honored Dr. King's legacy by painting murals in schools, creating superhero capes for children in hospitals, brightening the days of seniors, and organizing food and clothing donations.
Thanks to everyone who honored Dr. King's legacy by participating in this incredibly successful day of service!

For many corporate employees, Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a Federal Holiday on which you can stay home from work, relax on the couch, and take your mind off the stresses of everyday life. For some corporate employees, MLK Day is an honorary day on which they celebrate the legacy of Dr. King through service. This year, several corporate volunteer groups donated their time during the 2016 Jersey Cares Martin Luther King Day of Service:
35 Bank of America volunteers spread their efforts to serve three different locations including an elementary school, a middle school, and a youth recreation center. Volunteers were in for a productive day as they painted hallways, murals and window art and organized a library.
UBS chipped into the efforts as volunteers at a youth center facilitated civil rights and Fit & Fun workshops and helped kids create winter-themed arts and crafts.
Over 100 employees from Bayer painted stairwells at a Newark High School, built shelves and organized books at a youth learning center, and assembled "bravery kits" donated to children at a local hospital.
Employees from Eli Lilly & Company didn't miss out as they helped paint inspirational murals at an elementary school in Plainfield.
T-Mobile didn't phone it in as volunteers completely transformed a school in Paterson. 100 employees built new furniture, painted murals, built benches, painted the teachers' lounge, and much more. They even provided a Foosball table and gaming consoles to create a "huddle-up zone" for student socialization and recreation.
Enterprise employees drove the day's message home by
hosting a game of bingo at a senior center in Wayne while creating fleece blankets to donate to the clients of the center.
Our heartfelt thanks go out to the hundreds of corporate volunteers who donated their time to honor Dr. King's legacy!
