We thought you'd like a true backstage peek at our production of WEST SIDE STORY.  If you happen to drive by our offices in the next week, you may just see a crew of painters and builders hard at work on the set.  It's just one of the many ways we assure that we bring Broadway quality to Long Beach.

Our residency partnership with Minnie Gant Elementary School is well on its way. Our production of Willy Wonka Jr. (based on the Roald Dahl classic, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) is as colorful and zany as you'd expect! And tickets are now on sale!


Over the past five years, with Wilson High School and Minnie Gant Elementary, MTW has helped to facilitate the productions of local school musicals. We bring in professionals in the industry to teach the students what it is like working on a live production. The students get to experience every aspect of theater from performance to backstage protocol and are given the opportunity to perform for their friends and family. Our goal is to give them a professional experience to help foster the love of musical theatre in the generation of tomorrow.  

Tickets are on sale now by calling our box office at 562-856-1999 x4 or by the above buy tickets link.  The show plays for three performances only,  March 12th at 2pm & 7pm and  March 13th at 2pm. All performances are held at Lakewood High School's auditorium ( 4400 Briercrest Ave, Lakewood, CA 90713)! Willy Wonka, Jr. will be a great event for the whole family - take your kids and grandkids to introduce them to musical theatre!

LONG BEACH OPERA presents 
Bernstein's CANDIDE on January 30 
 at the Center Theatre in Long Beach.

Voltaire's biting satire of social mores, politics, superstitions, and unfettered optimism soars with Bernstein's witty, tune-filled score. Happy bastard Candide, the adoring and cunning Cunegonde, the vain Maximillian, and the extremely available Paquette journey through the "the best of all possible worlds," filled with outlandish characters. 

How can you "glitter and be gay" when you're expelled from your home, separated from your true love, shoved into the army, beset by storms, earthquakes, swindlers, and tortured by the Spanish Inquisition? Candide must find reason in the most unreasonable circumstances.
