Handful of Tickets Still Available for Glen Campbell Film

On Tuesday, May 19 at 7 PM, Pickering Manor will present a screening of “I’ll Be Me” – an award-winning film about legendary singer Glen Campbell and his fight against Alzheimer’s disease. The movie will be shown at the Newtown Theatre, 120 N. State Street in Newtown.

Tickets are free but only a few remain. Tickets can be picked up on a first-come, first-served basis at Pickering Manor, 226 N. Lincoln Ave. in Newtown between the hours of 9 AM and 5 PM Monday through Friday. This is the only screening of “I’ll Be Me” in Bucks County.

In 2011, Campbell was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and was told to hang up his guitar and prepare for the inevitable. Instead, Campbell went public with his diagnosis and announced that he and his family would set out on a short “Goodbye Tour.” This three-week engagement turned into an emotional and critically acclaimed 151-show nationwide tour.

Free Alzheimer’s Panel Discussion

Tuesday, June 23

Pickering Manor will host a free panel discussion about dementia and Alzheimer’s disease on Tuesday, June 23 at 7 PM at the Newtown Theatre, 120 N. State Street in Newtown.

Panelist will include Marc Duome, MD, a neuropsychologist; Keith Brown, Esq., an attorney with Stuckert & Yates; Julie Thomas from the Alzheimer’s Association; Barbara Marte from Seniors Helping Seniors; Beverly Remsburg, a Pickering Manor family member; and Meri Barboni, Social Services Director at Pickering.

Panelists will share their expertise and experiences with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Time will be provided for questions and answers from the audience. No RSVP required, open seating.

The panel discussion will take place a month after Pickering Manor’s screening of “I’ll Be Me” – an award-winning film about legendary singer Glen Campbell and his fight against Alzheimer’s disease.

Special Offered in Personal Care

Pickering has openings in Personal Care – a recently renovated, 22-room area for residents who require minimum to moderate assistance with their daily activities. Monthly fee includes a private room, all meals, trips and activities, medication management, health checks, laundry, housekeeping and more. New residents who move into Personal Care in May or June will receive their first month for free.

Pickering also has openings in its independent-living cottages. In recent months, several of the cottages have been renovated. All maintenance is provided by Pickering staff and the cottages are an easy walk from downtown Newtown Borough.

Auxiliary Members Spread Easter Joy

Members of the Pickering Manor Auxiliary brought some pre-Easter sunshine to the Skilled Nursing residents when they handed out soft, cuddly bunnies, chicks and lambs. All of the stuffed animals were donated by Auxiliary members and Pickering staff.

Pickering Auxiliary Luncheon a Success

The Pickering Manor Auxiliary held its annual spring luncheon and fashion show on April 9 at the Washington Crossing Inn. Attendees enjoyed lunch and fashions from Carousel Boutiques in Wrightstown.

Spring Bus Trip to Terrain

Join the Pickering Manor Auxiliary on a day of shopping at Terrain in Glen Mills, PA, on Tuesday, May 12. Price is $25 per person for transportation.
