January 4, 2016

Greetings and Happy New Year! With 2016 upon us, our largest pro-life event is right around the corner. The annual diocesan-wide Roe Memorial Events with Bishop Kevin J. Farrell will be held next  Saturday,  January 16, 2016 . I hope all of you are planning to attend with your families and many fellow parishioners.

Bishop Farrell encourages all North Texas Catholics to attend the Roe Memorial Mass at the convention center arena ( w ith room for 9,000, we hope to see every seat filled!), and then march through downtown for LIFE!   His letter of invitation along with promotional items for each parish to distribute and post are below:
If you have not seen the announcement in your bulletin yet, please contact your parish office to ensure it runs by this weekend, January 9/10, and please confirm that the posters and yard signs which should have been delivered to your parish are now being displayed.

Additional information about the 2016 Roe Memorial Events, including digital promotions, a complete schedule, concert performers and rally speakers, may be found at  www.prolifedallas.org/roe .

We are also still in need of Roe Memorial volunteers, particularly Knights of Columbus, parish ushers, and police or security officers. Volunteers may sign up at www.prolifedallas.org/roevolunteer

In addition to the Roe Memorial, please mark your calendars for the following upcoming events:
And be sure to save the date for the next  Parish Pro-Life Coordinators Meeting  (now bilingual!) on February 13 at 9 am to noon at Prince of Peace in Plano, including details on the 23rd annual Bishop's Pro-Life Dinner on April 16. If you can't attend, please send a representative.

The first day of the new year is dedicated to Mary, the Mother of God. By her acceptance of God's will she became the mother of the Prince of Peace. In this beginning of a new year she continues to bring life to all her children. Without naming Mary, Paul asserts that "God sent his son, born of a woman, born under the law." (Galatians 4:4)  Mary is indeed the Mother of God who is all love. Let us continually ask her to cover us all with her love and peace.

Thanks for all you do for Life -- and for all you can do in the next few days to assist us and Bishop Farrell in promoting the January 16 Roe Memorial events. We can't do it without you!

God bless,

David Carr
