A MESSAGE ABOUT THE AKIBA WEBSITE
We are excited to have received  so much good feedback regarding our new website. We are aware of the issues surrounding notifications (Email Updates from Edlio/Akiba Academy) and we are currently working alongside Edlio's programmers to address these issues. As with any new website launch there will be kinks to work out and we appreciate your patience as we do so.

CAMPUS HAPPENINGS

It's only the first full week back and we've hit the ground running! Check out some of the cool things we've been up to!

8th grade science students participated in the Marshmallow Challenge.  .  This is a group exercise to create a structure with a marshmallow at the top using 20 pieces of spaghetti, string, and tape.

MITZVAH OF THE MONTH
Our first Mitzvah of the Month project is happening this Sunday and Monday on campus! We will be helping the children bake challah to be distributed with the JFS Rosh Hashana baskets. Please see the link below to sign up for a time slot. The activities Sunday from 12:30-2:00 are available for the families. There are time slots available Monday from 8:15-3:45 for parents to come help. Mitzvah of the Month is a new PTO initiative to incorporate parents into what our children are learning at Akiba.

A MESSAGE FROM JORDANA

Dear Early Childhood Families,

This has been an unbelievable first full week of school! I have been so amazed by how the children, teachers, and families seem to have transitioned into school so seamlessly.  While some children are coming into school with some hesitation and even a few tears (which is not unexpected), for the most part they quickly find something fascinating to do in their classroom and remain engaged throughout the rest of the day.

Each week I will be including some highlights in the Kol Akiba in order to keep you informed about what is happening inside early childhood.  In addition, I will be posting photos, information, and other features on my teacher page on our new Akiba Academy website. Please be sure to subscribe to my page so you will get notifications when I have added something new by clicking on this link http://www.akibaacademy.org/apps/pages/index.jsp?uREC_ID=522800&type=u.

In addition, my door is always open to you to answer any questions, listen to any comments or concerns, or for you to share an enjoyable story about your child.

I am looking forward to a phenomenal year!

Shabbat Shalom,
Jordana Bernstein
Director of Early Childhood
