With $500 off, you could own an Upton for as little as $2000. Handmade alongside our finest custom basses, the UB Standard Models are a tremendous value.

It's been a bad couple weeks for double bassists who need to fly.  If you've been watching social media and follow bass stuff, you've seen some gruesome shots of basses with the necks snapped off.

We need to re-think how we fly with these giants.  No one is going to care for your precious cargo like you are, so we have to make it a bit easier for these people to handle.  Decreasing the size and weight is the only way to do this...and we've been working on this dilemma for years now.

Check out our video below about our travel bass concepts, and stay tuned as we start the conversion of a Baroque bass into a removable necked bass that we'll be blogging about on www.stringrepair.com as well as our YouTube Channel.

We LOVE what we do and we LOVE doing it for you!

Give us a call at 860-535-9399 and lets build your next bass!

Colorado Symphony

The musician was returning from a successful audition with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, flying with Southwest Airlines, having checked his bass into the hold through Atlanta Transport Security Administration (TSA) officials. At some point during the journey a section of his fibreglass case was ripped away, and the neck of his double bass snapped in half.
'Thanks Southwest Airlines and or TSA Atlanta,' reads the caption to his photos. 'I've trusted you with my baby for 9 years and then this. The heavy duty case was heavily damaged too. Very disappointed. How?'
University of Georgia

Mere days after bassist Karl Fenner published photos on social media of his badly damaged instrument, University of Georgia faculty member Milton Masciadri has posted very similar pictures of his double bass - once again snapped in half at the neck.
Both instruments were damaged via Atlanta Airport in the US, although the airlines were reportedly different. In Masciadri's case, his Testore instrument was smashed en route to Arkansas, where the musician was due to give a recital.
