M² recently made a $12M commitment to ZM Capital II, L.P., a $400 million buyout fund formed by ZelnickMedia, a New York-based private equity firm. ZM Capital II, L.P. is ZelnickMedia's second fund formed to invest in opportunities in the media and communications space. ZelnickMedia was founded in 2001 by industry veteran Strauss Zelnick.
In addition to Strauss Zelnick, the team consists of four other Principals - Seymour Sammell, Karl Slatoff, Jordan Turkewitz, and Andrew Vogel - all of whom have worked together for more than 10 years.
ZM will target two types of investments in the media and communications space: transitional buyout opportunities and special situations including
turnarounds
and other complex opportunities. ZM takes a very hands-on approach in managing portfolio companies drawing on the team's extensive operating experience in the space.
