"This cause of early childhood development is close to both our hearts.  It is true we are both mothers, and maybe that gives us a particular perspective.  But it's also because as leaders in our respective nations, we have seen how important it it to tend to our very youngest citizens."
 - Hillary Clinton, speaking of the importance of early childhood
development on behalf of herself and Liu Yandong,
Vice Premier of the People's Republic of China

The Raising of America
The Raising of America, by the producers of UNNATURAL CAUSES: Is Inequality Making Us Sick?, is an ambitious documentary series that seeks to reframe the way we look at early child health and development.  It illustrates how a strong start for all our kids leads not only to better individual life course outcomes (learning, earning, and physical and mental health) but also to a healthier, safer, better educated, more prosperous and equitable nation.

The Raising of America is being created in the context of a national Public Engagement Campaign to expand the debate about what we as a society can - and should - do to ensure every infant has an equal opportunity childhood.

Strong Start for Children Campaign
The Strong Start for Children- Building America's Future Campaign is a nationwide effort to encourage increased federal early childhood investments.  The Campaign also seeks to support the President's Preschool Proposal, an initiative which would expand access to high-quality early learning opportunities for low-and moderate-income children and families.

The Campaign has three goals:  1) increase public awareness about the importance of the early years to a child's success in school and in life  2) build support among public officials for greater investments in early learning  3) expand the voices of support for young children and their families.
