World Breastfeeding Week
August 1 - 7, 2014
Each year, the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) coordinates World Breastfeeding Week.  This year's theme, "Breastfeeding: A Winning Goal for Life!", asserts the importance of increasing and sustaining the protection, promotion and support of breastfeeding

BREASTFEEDING and the MDGs
In 1990, eight global goals, the Millenium Development Goals (MDGs), were set by governments and the United Nations to fight poverty and promote healthy and sustainable development in a comprehensive way by 2015. Click HERE to see how breastfeeding relates to the MDGs.

Breastfeeding-Friendly Hospital Initiative
Last year, the Nevada Breastfeeding Task Force developed the Breastfeeding-Friendly Hospital Designation to recognize those maternity centers that have taken steps to promote, protect and support breastfeeding in their organization. Using a 5-star system, hospitals are awarded a star for every two steps achieved in the Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding as defined by the World Health Organization (WHO) and Baby Friendly USA

To find out more about the Task Force, ways to get involved locally, or see how your hospital can become a Nevada Maternity Center Breastfeeding Friendly Designation Awardee, visit www.nevadabreastfeeds.org
