2015 Fall Symposium Recap
The March of Dimes held the 12th Annual Women's Health Symposium on Saturday, November 7th in Las Vegas and video-conference to Reno.  Over 100 doctors, nurses, and other healthcare providers spend the day discussing disparities in maternal and infant health.  Attendees enjoyed presentations from both local and national speakers on topics, such as Equity in American Indian and Alaska Native Health Care, Disparities in Women and Children's Health Issues in Rural Nevada, Quality Improvement Opportunities to Promote Equity in Perinatal Health Outcomes, and Long-term Acting Reversible Contraception.  Save the date for November 2016 for the next Women's Health Symposium.

The Association of Maternal & Child Health Programs (AMCHP) sent out a Tip Sheet regarding a multimedia project to expand the conversation regarding early childhood, including a DVD and templates.  
Project components include:
*A Documentary Series
*A National Public Engagement Campaign
*A Companion Website
 
Their most recent series from The Raising of America is entitled "Early Childhood and the Future of our Nation."  The DVD within this project is broken into four episodes, including:
*The Raising of America
* Are we Crazy About Our Kids - The Cost/Benefit Equation
*Once Upon a Time - When Childcare for All Wasn't Just a Fairytale
*Wounded Places - Confronting Childhood PTSD

The State is participating in COIIN (Collaborative Improvement and Innovation Network) .  It is an initiative to reduce infant mortality and improve birth outcomes.  States come together in 'cyberteams' and share improvement methods along with policy and program innovation.  Nevada is participating in two learning networks:
Preconception/Interconception Health and Social Determinants of Health.
