First up, let me give you all an update on the Funimation situation. It's been an incredibly challenging week...
After a great deal of hair pulling and hand wringing (and more than a dozen phone calls), we have finally gotten in limited qnties of Funimation's 9/15 and 9/22 releases. These include the second
Space Dandy set,
Selector Infected,
Tokyo Ghoul,
FMA, and others. These are
in stock and shipping now and we should have all of your pre-orders for them filled by COB on Monday. Like many of the regular editions, so far we have only received part of our order for the
FMA CE edition, but in this case not enough (yet) to fill all of your pre-orders for it. The rest are on the way and we should have enough of the FMA CE's in stock to complete your pre-order shipments and take it off pre-order status early next week.
Now for the bad news. Just in case you haven't heard yet, the
Tokyo Ghoul CE boxed set has been
canceled/postponed due to a production problem with the set. Funi actually did ship these
sets to retail, but fortunately we got the word in time that they were being canceled/recalled before we shipped out any to you guys. We will leave all pre-orders for the set active, however, it has been removed from the September release schedule and a re-release date is TBD. We are not going to accept anymore pre-orders for the set until Funi sets a new date. If you would like to switch your pre-order from the CE to one of the other two Tokyo Ghoul sets, just
drop us a line and we'll see to it. Also, the release of
FREE! Eternal Summer (all versions) has been
postponed until further notice. It has also been removed from the Sept release schedule and a new release date is TBD. If you have an order in waiting on one of the FREE sets and want to make a change, just
drop us a line and we'll take care of it. This is just my opinion, but I now think it unlikely that either the TG-CE box set or Free! Eternal Summer will be released this year.
Funi is dealing with some big challenges right now but we've been in regular communication with them this week and I think they will get things back on track soon. Once that happens I'll be looking for that
bottle of Sake Gen promised me.

New Licenses
Dark Horse has picked up the rights to the manga series
I Am a Hero by Kengo Hanazawa, from Viz Media's co-parent Shogakukan. The story follows an unhinged manga artist with a gun who sees the beginning of a zombie apocalypse in Tokyo.
The series will be released in three double-sized $19.99 omnibus editions (each containing two normal manga volumes) in April and October, 2016, and April 2017.

And Death Note is coming to Blu-ray for the first time in December with a new Omega Edition from Viz. This 6 disc set includes episodes 1-37 + both feature length films Re-Light #1 & #2, an artbook and a premium, metallic chipboard box.
Don't ask me what a 'metallic chipboard box' is. I'm curious about that myself.
