Jewish Used Book Sale at OZ
Let's recycle & share our books! Drop books off (in advance), then buy some you'd like to read on Sunday, Oct. 25th for just $1 or $2.

Help make it happen by dropping off Jewish-related books you no longer need or want at OZ (a sign be will inside the parking lot entrance). If possible, drop them off during Hebrew school hours between Sept. 27th and Oct. 21st -- that is, on Sundays between 9:30am and 11:30am or Wednesdays between 4pm and 6pm.

Books should be in good condition and on any Jewish-related topic: religion, culture, history, ethics. We also encourage the donation of children's books and fiction on Jewish themes (up to you to determine if it's a Jewish theme!).

The book sale will take place at OZ between 11am and 3pm on Sunday, October 25th.

MARK IT ON YOUR CALENDAR, and stop by then to take home some books for Fall & Winter reading!

Questions or need to drop books off some other time?  Contact Wayne Senville at  [email protected] or 802-338-7282.

Planning the Celebration!
In June, 2016, Temple Sinai will have much to celebrate ~ our Golden Jubilee Anniversary as a Reform Temple in the state of Vermont!

Please start gathering photos, stories, histories, and other memorabilia submit them to the Temple Office.  We have some exciting events in the works, so don't miss out on the fun!
Look for events that will begin soon!
Old Newspapers Needed
Do you have a pile of newspapers that you have been meaning to recycle, but just haven't gotten around to it.  Please bring them to the Temple!

We have a landscaping project that needs your old newspapers.  Please place them in the coatroom near the front entryway.  Thank you for your assistance with this project!

Winter Trips to Israel

The Taglit-Birthright Israel gift is perhaps our single best opportunity to engage the next generation of Jewish young adults with their Jewish identity and foster a connection to Israel and the Jewish community worldwide. URJ Kesher is the only Reform Birthright Israel provider and we are committed to taking nearly 2,000 young adults per year on an inspirational journey to Israel, but we have an opportunity to grow and you can help us.

Birthright Israel registration for Winter trips (December to March) opens September 8th , right before Rosh Hashanah and the High Holiday season. Please take advantage of the ability to offer the gift of Birthright Israel with URJ Kesher.

Shop With Scrip at Your Favorite Merchants
What is Scrip?

Scrip is a way to fundraise for Temple Sinai while you shop. Instead of using your credit card to pay for groceries, gas, clothing, restaurants, pharmacy and household items, you simply use gift cards purchased through Scrip, and the retailers donate a percentage of the sale to Temple. Check out the ShopWithScrip.com website to see all the participating retailers.

What retailers actually donate a significant percentage of the sale to Temple?

Many of the retailers donate between 2 and 7% , but some are "high rollers" and donate as much as 25% of the sale (Fannie May Chocolates!). You can check out these "high rollers" by going to the ShopWithScrip.com website, click on "shop" in the upper right corner, then click on "rebate %" on the left hand side, and finally click on ">9%" also on the left hand side.  Some of the "High Rollers" in our area include:

  • LL Bean and Lands End 16%
  • Gap, Athleta, Old Navy, and Banana Republic 14%
  • J Crew, Talbots, and Bath and Body Works  13%
  • Uno Chicago Grill 12%
  • Under Armour and Chili's Bar and Grille 11%
  • Macy's, Eddie Bauer, and Chipotle 10%
  • Olive Garden and Panera Bread 9%

Gift Cards Are a Great Idea for Mother's Day, Birthdays, Benai Mitzvot, and Graduation!

Signing up for Scrip is easy, and then you can get a lot of the gift cards electronically. But if you don't want to sign up, or you want the actual plastic gift cards, just let me know what you would like to order. Thanks so much for your interest!

To order, email Barbara Burroughs or give her a call at 802-985-9329.

Only a 15 cent service fee to you, and Temple makes anywhere from 2% - 19% on your purchase. Easiest fundraiser ever (next to Hannaford). Do your part--sign up for Scrip today!
