The wintry start to February has not slowed down the WI CCC Program! February includes a whirlwind of activities that the WI CCC Program team is excited to share with partners and WI Cancer Council members. We hope you can participate in as many activities as possible:
- Join the WI CCC Plan Priority Webinar featuring Priority 4, Increase HPV Vaccine Completion on February 9, 2016 from 3-4 PM
- Apply for 2016 CCC Implementation Grants Funding to implement WI CCC Plan Priority 9 by April 1, 2016
- Consider participating in the Farm to Hospital Community of Practice
- Save the Dates for HPV Vaccine Summits in May and the WI Survivorship Forum in June

| WI CCC Plan Priority Webinar on Priority 4 "Increase HPV Vaccine Completion": February 9, 2016 from 3-4 PM |
The 2016 WI CCC Plan Priority Webinar Series will kick off on February 9, 2016 from 3-4 PM to feature Priority 4 - Increase HPV Vaccine Completion. The webinar will include a summary of the findings from the
HPV Vaccine Environmental Scan conducted by the WI Comprehensive Cancer Control Program from October 2014 - September 2015. The environmental scan included a review of WI HPV vaccination data, a stakeholder survey to learn about current HPV-related activities, an assessment of research being conducted at UW-Madison and evaluation of a local quality improvement provider education project. The webinar will provide a comprehensive overview of HPV vaccination rates and activities in Wisconsin.

 The WI Comprehensive Cancer Control Program, housed at the UW Carbone Cancer Center, recently participated in the development of a position statement on HPV vaccination. UW Carbone Cancer Center has joined the nation's top cancer centers in issuing a statement with the National Cancer Institute (NCI) urging increased human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination to prevent cancer.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), HPV infections are responsible for about 27,000 new cancer diagnoses each year in the U.S. Yet fewer than 40 percent of girls and just more than 21 percent of boys receive the recommended three doses. The percentages fall short of the goal of 80 percent by the end of this decade as set by Healthy People 2020.
In a release from the UW Carbone Cancer Center, Dr. Howard Bailey, director of the UW Carbone Cancer Center, stated "The HPV vaccine is about cancer prevention. It's our best defense to stop HPV infection in our youth and prevent HPV-related cancers."

| Wisconsin HPV Vaccine Summits - Save the Dates, Registration Coming Soon |
The Wisconsin HPV Vaccine Summits aim to improve HPV immunization rates throughout the state by providing updates, discussion opportunities and best practices. Two HPV Vaccine Summits will be held:
These free conferences are offered to vaccine advocates from organizations engaged in activities to improve health of adolescents and prevent cancer. Representatives from all organizations and providers who can implement HPV immunization program improvements and promote timely HPV immunizations are encouraged to attend.
These free conferences are sponsored by the Wisconsin Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrices (WIAAP), Wisconsin Department of Health Services (WI DHS) Immunization Program, Scenic Rivers Area Health Education Center (SR AHEC) and the Wisconsin Comprehensive Cancer Control Program (WI CCC Program).

| New Resources Added to Website for WI CCC Plan Implementation |
Two new resources have been added to the
online WI CCC Plan resource section. You can access resources for specific Priorities and Strategies when viewing the WI CCC Plan 2015-2020 online. Select the Priority you wish to explore and scroll to the bottom right of your screen. Under "Resources to take action" click on a Strategy to find resources to support your implementation activities.
