Dear Board District 2 Champion,

Today, we stood strong for students and put safety first in Los Angeles. After securing our facilities, schools will be open tomorrow.

Schools were closed today. We understand the impact this had on our LAUSD family and I stand with the Superintendent's decision to ensure the safety of our students.

We have worked with local and national authorities. I congratulate and appreciate the 13 law enforcement agencies that have assisted in assuring the safety of our schools and the cooperation of the City of Los Angeles, the 31 local cities, many neighborhoods served by the Los Angeles County of Supervisors, and the thousands of educators like principals and plant managers.

Again, LAUSD will be open for students tomorrow morning to continue their path to graduation.

In the spirit of hope,
