Often a victim's first contact with the Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center is through the hotline, rapid response and/or court volunteers. Volunteers provide information and support including crisis intervention, restraining order assistance, safety planning and referrals to community services. Our volunteer advocates are a bridge to victims offering emotional support.
Becoming a volunteer for The Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center starts with our volunteer training program. The training will help you to understand all of the obstacles and challenges to safely leaving an abusive relationship. You will have a deeper insight into the dynamics of domestic violence and its effects on the victim. You will be given the tools and resources with which to work with our clients, as well as develop skills to help you assist victims of domestic violence.
Training sessions will begin Tuesday, March 3rd
for a total of 30 hours of training. The course runs over a five week time-span, including five evenings and two Saturday sessions.
Limited space is available and registration is required.
