BLITZZ FC
OCTOBER 2015
The monthly newsletter of the Blitzz FC is where you can find current information for club news, happenings and programming.
From the Blitzz FC Board
Blitzz FC Annual General Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday October 20th at 7pm in the cafeteria at Sacajawea Middle School.

Please plan on attending this meeting to hear reports from the Blitzz FC Board of Directors on the past year and plans for the upcoming year.

Elections for open positions on the Board of Directors
will take place in December.  If you are interested, please email Britt Bodtker, Club Manager at [email protected]

FUNDRAISING!
We are continuing the Parking Lot fundraiser at the Bobcat Football games.  Last Saturday Denise & Kurt Palmquist along with Kerry Nordrum raised over $500!  They are generously donating all the funds to the club -- funds that can assist with scholarships and needed equipment!
Teams also can take this on, with a small portion of the proceeds going back to the club.
Email [email protected] if you want a weekend -- first come, first served!

Fall Academy & Competitive
Our teams just returned from the Jackson Hole Fall Classic tournament.   Pictured below are our U13 Girls Blue that won the gold flight beating out teams from Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming. Also congratulations to our U11 Boys Blue that won the gold flight, our U11 Boys White that came second in the silver flight, our U14 Boys Blue that won the gold flight, our U12 Girls Blue came in second in the gold flight, and our U14 Girls Blue came in second in the gold flight. Great results in what is a a very tough and competitive tournament!

This fall we have hosted friendlies at home and also had games up in our sister community of Big Sky.  We've been to Billings and Helena for friendlies and many teams will compete at the Helena Sleeping Giant tournament to close out the season.  A few older teams will extend the season by going to tournaments out of state in October and November.

Micro Recreational
From April Ganser, MIcro Director:

We are quickly approaching the 4th week of games.  This fall season has flown.  The coaches have done an excellent job this season, without the 136 coaches and co-coaches this program would not be the quality program it proves to be each year.  I am continually thankful for the coach's willingness to coach our children through these 8+ weeks.  The skills of the game are really starting to click at this point in the season as kids are getting more and more touches on the ball.  I've been enjoying seeing all the teams around the valley with 100+ teams this fall kids are always practicing at a neighborhood park. Please remember to thank your coach for putting in so many hours planning practices and games, sending emails/texts, organizing snacks, running practices and thinking about the team.

Please remember the referees are learning to be confident referees alongside the players.  It is often a hard job for these young people to make calls and manage the game, players, coaches and parents.  There are a lot of moving pieces on the field and they do a great job of teaching as well as refereeing the game.  Each week there are 40+ referees working and trying their hardest to make the calls fair and accurate. Please be supportive and encouraging to them as they really are doing their best.

Please volunteer to help set up our fields on Sunday mornings -- you may even get a Granny's donut!

We are offering an introductory program for 7-8 year olds this fall:
Micro Plus Indoor Technical Training
If your son or daughter had a great time playing Blitzz Micro soccer this fall and is thinking they may be interested in a step up in level to the Blitzz Academy, then they should try out the Micro Plus Indoor Technical Training Program.

Space is limited to 15 kids per session. Ages 7-8 only. Kids must wear indoor appropriate footwear, shinguards, and appropriate attire for playing soccer.

Cost is $125.

More information about this program is on our website under the Programs tab --> Camps & Clinics.

Volunteer Spotlight:
Katja Picard
Have you ever wondered how our fields get lined every week?  No it isn't magic -- however the tireless efforts of Katja Picard do seem magical. Katja is the parent of a U14 boy.  We want her to know her efforts are definitely appreciated -- thank you Katja for all you do!

Coaches  Spotlight:
U12 Girls
Casey Jacobson, Suzanne Lyon, Anne Fox, Anna Borden and Anna Hochhalter are the coaches for the 3 Blitzz FC U12 Girls teams.  We recently got an email from a Magic City coach thanking them for the use of their rain shelter and commending their sportsmanship:
"I also want to let you know that your coaches are always positive to all the players and opposing coaches and they are role models for the way Clubs in the state should be and for this your club should be proud!  These are outstanding people you have!"
