Chairman's Message

 Greetings Members,

I hope your 2016 is off to a great start. January was a busy month for the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce. In case you missed it:
  • We welcomed a new business to the community, Sport Clips, and celebrated the new locations of two others Double D Cupcakes & Tiny Treats and Sol Print Solutions.
  • Kim Maevers of the Greater Antelope Valley Economic Alliance (GAVEA) shared a preview of the 2016 Economic Roundtable Report at our monthly Luncheon.
  • Two new board members were added to fill vacancies on our Board of Directors. Please give a warm welcome to Austin Rice of Fourr, Alden & Associates, LLP and Shanny Goben of TownPlace Suites by Marriott. Both are highly regarded professionals in their fields and we are proud to add their expertise to our board.
  • Stan Turner of Edwards Federal Credit Union is assuming the duties of Board Treasurer from Mark Troth.  Mark is stepping away from the board to focus on the growth of his third-generation family business, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, Troth REALTORS. Thank you both for your work in guiding the financial health of the chamber.
  • Lancaster Chamber representatives were on hand for the passing of the gavel at Palmdale Chamber of Commerce's 75th Installation event. Congrats to Chuck Church on a successful year and best wishes to incoming Chairwoman Jennifer Navarro on the year ahead.
During the month of February, I encourage our members to take advantage of one of the many benefits that come with a Lancaster Chamber of Commerce Membership, including (but not limited to):
  • Setting up your FREE member page on the chamber website, lancasterchamber.org. Even if you're not tech savvy, our chamber services team can take your logo, photos and business info and build the page for you. How easy is that!
  • Book your spot on the Minding Your Business radio show with hosts Chris Spicher and Aaron Goldstein. Taped weekly, this is your opportunity share your business via radio and webcast.
  • Do you have a unique product or service that could benefit other members in a workshop-style discussion or meet and greet? Share your expertise by hosting a Lunch & Learn at the chamber office or a Quarterly Mixer at your business.
There is real value in your membership. Let the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce be a part of your business success!

Membership Luncheon
Please join the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce at our monthly membership luncheon.

This month will feature a presentation given to us by the Los Angeles County Sherrifs Department focusing  on  surviving an "Active Shooting".

Information presented at the luncheon is intended to help public and private organizations understand and consider courses of action that may be taken to reduce vulnerability and increase survivability in the event of an active shooter and or bombing situation.
Handout materials will be provided, and the video, "Surviving an Active Shooter - What Would You Do?" will be screened. Included in the program will be discussion of the slogan "If You See Something, Say Something," nationally promoted by law enforcement and Homeland Security officials. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about what may be suspicious. Individuals are being encouraged to alert local law enforcement of any suspicious individuals or actions observed, and point out the fact that active shooter situations can occur anywhere.

RSVPs are suggested for this event.
