Why Knot Needs Your Help!
You're Invited to Join Us

Why Knot meets the first Monday in the month to tie quilts to send to Lutheran World Relief. Our next two meetings are February 1 and March 7 at 9 am in room 212.
Can't join us? WE STILL COULD USE YOUR HELP! There are quilt packets in the collection room off fellowship hall to take home and sew. The process is simple: sew 8 rows of 6 squares each and then piece them together! Directions are included with every packet.

Don't sew? WE STILL COULD USE YOUR HELP! All donations of fabric or sheets are gladly welcomed. If you prefer, you may give us money by writing a check to Faith Lutheran Church with the subject being Why Knot. WE have been very fortunate this year to receive a $250.00 grant from Thrivent Financial that helped us buy batting for 50-60 quilts and thread.

Wednesday Morning Bible Study
With Vicar Andrea Bates

It's never too late to join Vicar Andrea at the Wednesday, 9:30 am Bible Study!  For the next few weeks (we will not meet on Ash Wednesday, February 10th) we will continue our discussion of the first chapters of Exodus and how the story of Israel aligns with our lives and the world today.  We are using a Bible Study called Out of the Waters, from Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services, and so far we have had lively discussion about how God's ancient story meets our stories, as God's people today.  As the study wraps up, we will begin discerning the ways we might respond as a congregation to the refugee situations in today's world.

S.U.R.E.
Sarasota Untied for Responsibility & Equity

In our world, I believe it's important to do justice, to make a change, to strive for better! The Bible tells us to do justice many times in many ways. One of my favorite justice verses comes from Isaiah 1:17 which says, "Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow." S.U.R.E. helps us live out this verse by restoring justice in our community. We stand together for the prosperity of others! S.U.R.E. is indeed making a difference in the city of Sarasota, and it's so amazing to be part of that! Most of the time, being a part of S.U.R.E. is just showing up! When many people gather, the people in charge listen. And things change. It's important to strive for justice because it shows we are truly living out our faith calling. We are being a light, a genuine example of what it means to be a Christ-follower. I'm a proud member of S.U.R.E. because we are solving problems, doing justice, and being the salt of the earth.
