Spit and Sticks_ A Chimney Full of Swifts Miss Andrea recommends
Spit and Sticks: A Chimney Full of Swifts by Marilyn Grohoske Evans; illustrated by Nicole Gsell

Two swifts make a nest in the chimney of a Texas family's home. The illustrations tell two stories, that of the swifts and that of the family, in parallel. Each family has their home, prepares for a baby (or three), welcomes the newborns, and then watches them grow until the swifts fly south. Less informative than entertaining, the book is overall a nice introduction to a lesser known species of bird. The watercolor illustrations fit the story nicely and are bright and cheerful. Author's note. Recommended for ages 4 and up.
