What makes us tick?

Our international  volunteer program is the lifeblood of Village Volunteers. Along with them and our remarkable local leaders, we are a collaborative body that supports sustainable solutions to community challenges in Africa and Asia. So much of what we have accomplished is thanks to our alumni volunteers' unwavering support.

The international experience we offer is immersive, meaningful, responsible and above all, safe. Through the years, we've worked with students,  professionals, gap year students and those who want to experience rich cultures and make friends with a global community in Africa or Asia. For students in particular, we provide placements that help them gain experiences to meet their academic requirements and enhance their career goals.

We encourage you to take advantage of our expertise in finding the right placement for you. If you are an alumni, we count on you to recommend your volunteer experience to your community.

Plan ahead for 2016! Fill out an application so we can direct you to the best possible program.

Here's to a peaceful and collaborative 2016!

Accomplishments & Highlights
Volunteer Jami Rudolfsky and the Masaba Women's Group.
Village Volunteers is pleased to share with you that we've raised close to $5,000,000 in the past decade with no more than two employees, countless volunteer hours and a compassionate spirit!

With this support, we've help build schools, sponsored thousands of hours of education, supplemented teachers' salaries, built daycare centers and a nursing college, supported college scholarships for young women in nursing and teaching , assisted children in shelters and safe homes , provided seed funding and   business t raining  for micro-enterprise development, built a ceramic water filter plant, developed a sanitary pad project, planted hundreds of thousands of trees and developed cooperative tree nurseries, helped fund school gardens, chicken and dairy programs, funded the training of thousands in organic farming methods, and drilled wells and pooled resources for micro-lending funds, just to name a few.

Above all, Village Volunteers has
supported the great leadership of our partners' thriving NGOs who made all of this happen on the ground.

Our sincerest THANK YOU for your support of vulnerable communities!

The Butterfly Project Scholarship Fund supports college education for promising young women who are committed to serving their rural communities through careers in education or nursing, but lack the necessary financial resources to pursue their dreams. We've already had 18 young women enter the work force as professionals, and have great candidates waiting for their opportunity!

Your donation of just $20 could buy a water filter for a school classroom, made by a Kenyan factory that supports jobs and the local economy. Filters last up to three years and provide clean water for 10-12 people a day.

$100 can dramatically impact a woman's life. Your small, micro loan could allow a woman to start or strengthen her small business. The women in this program receive training which gives them a chance at economic freedom through the establishment of social enterprises with a clear path to success.

Support a Girl!

A monthly donation of $12.50 will buy menstruation supplies for 8 girls through a women-run social enterprise that makes sanitary pads. Donating to Empowering Women Period assists a vulnerable girl by providing her with your caring support, as well as provides jobs and income to the women who manufacture the pads.

Buy a pound of nutrient-packed, powdered moringa for only $20 from women's farming groups to support feeding programs. A preschool child needs only
2-3 teaspoons for every cup of porridge to provide them with the nutrients for health and growth. Expectant mothers are also included in this program
.

For just $40 a month, you can provide an orphaned and vulnerable child with the opportunity to for a good education, books, uniforms, healthcare and other basic needs. If you have a particular partner or country in mind, let us know!

Monthly donations will be available to support emergency care for children with sickle cell anemia. Even $10 a month helps! We are deeply moved by the death of one of the children who many volunteers knew as Etse. His twin brother is a precious and intelligent young man who deserves the best possible treatment to help him get through the loss of his brother and learn to thrive with his disease.
