From volunteering, to raising funds and holding food drives for charity, DCSD students are busy this holiday season helping to take care of those who are less fortunate. Take a look at our Community Connections blog to see the great work our students are doing this holiday season.

This week's threat at Mountain Vista High School was prevented thanks to an anonymous tip texted via the Text-a-Tip program. We would like to take this opportunity to provide you with a reminder of the avenues of communication available in the event that you see or experience something unusual or feel there is a threat to an individual or group of individuals. Two DCSD teachers help explain the benefits of the newly updated elementary progress report format. Read more
The event is completely student-organized. Each student has a role as the 25 different design teams bring their fashions to the public. They could choose to be anything from fashion designers to models, graphic artists to writers, and photographers to team leads. 
Last month, students and staff at Larkspur Elementary School enjoyed a self-grown garden harvest soup, plus self-made desserts during their lunchtime. It was a meal they began preparing more than six months ago. Read more

Congrats to Northridge's LEGO League Team
Congratulations to Northridge Elementary School's First LEGO League team, called "The Garbage Pail Kids," for placing second in a robotics competition, qualifying for the state competition in January.

Thanks to support from the Douglas County School District and Lego's education division, Highlands Ranch's Coyote Creek Elementary School is using the colorful, plastic, interlocking bricks to spark creativity and hands-on learning across subjects and grade levels.
