Professors get $380,000 grant to study wearable device security

Jibo He, assistant professor of psychology and Murtuza Jadliwala, assistant professor of electrical engineering and computer science professor were awarded a $380,000 grant from the National Science Foundation to investigate cybersecurity and privacy issues for wearable devices. Jibo He is a winner of the WSU Ventures' 2014 Shock Tank Innovation Accelerator award.  Read more...
Madhavan named Sam Bloomfield Chair in Engineering Innovation

Vis Madhavan, professor of industrial and manufacturing engineering, was named as the inaugural Sam Bloomfield Chair in Engineering Innovation. Madhavan's "Method for Analysis of Machining" technology is available for licensing through WSU Ventures. Read more...
WSU Ventures' Sherry Gegen selected for Leadership Wichita
Sherry Gegen, WSU Ventures business and industry liason, was selected to participate in the Wichita Metro Chamber of Commerce 2015 Leadership Wichita class. For WSU Ventures, Gegen's extensive knowledge of state and federal-funded training programs, economic development and workforce development strategies and resources allows her to successfully connect Kansas business with Wichita State University resources, government resources and the local workforce system. Participate in Manufacturing Day Oct. 2
Friday Oct. 2 is Manufacturing Day. In honor of South Kansas' designation as an Investing in Manufacturing Communities Partnership region, several organizations are hosting Manufacturing Day events. Events include factory tours at Viega and Certainteed in McPherson, and events at Wichita Area Technical College, Coffeyville Community College and Butler Community College. Read more...

The "Develop a Winning SBIR/STTR Proposal" workshop will be held Friday Oct. 16 from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. It progresses through a comprehensive four-step process and the basics for developing a competitive Phase 1 proposal. Cost to attend is $75 and includes lunch, materials and a future proposal review valued at $450.

Lab Spotlight: Human Performance Laboratory

The Human Performance Laboratory supports research and private industry projects assessing human exercise performance and fundamental human physiology in sport, exercise and health.The lab is directed by Jeremy Patterson, professor of human studies, who also received a 2014 Shock Tank Innovation Accelerator award for his iNOv8v Health Technologies' non-invasive physiological assessment and biofeedback fitness systems project.  Download the lab info sheet...
