The month of October 2015 ended with many, many fascinating developments and accomplishments in the life of our church.

1. Our construction project is coming along very well. The foundation, roof and exterior frame is completed. Work on the ADA-compliant bathrooms are coming soon.  

 

 

2. The National Association of the Church of God hosted its men's and women's conference in St. Louis, MO on Oct 8-11. Outstanding preaching, singing and fellowship by all!!

A time of fellowship and reconciliation.

3. During our monthly men's fellowship, we welcomed Bro Evanson from KENYA as well as our National Men's Ministry President Bro Jerome Chisolm. Afterwards, we continued the fellowship at Darrah's Restaurant in Fort Washington, MD

4. On the 25th, we hosted eight (8) organizations and representatives from the community for our annual  Domestic Violence Awareness Month service  with guest preacher Reverend Dr. Andrea Middleton King, Associate Director Ministry for the Poor, United Methodist Church, Baltimore-Washington Conference. Monthly fellowship dinner was immediately after the service in fellowship hall.

 

Following this service, our church was approached by Compassion Power to serve as a host church for their parenting and domestic violence classes on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. In essence, we will welcome up to 50 families each week into our church. More to come on this beginning in January 2016.

Other notes of interest:

a. One of the two (2)  grant applications  was approved:

(1) Expand our food pantry ($2,500) through the Walmart Corporation (not approved), and 

(2) Storm water preservation grant from the Chesapeake Bay Trust ($87,000) - approved for $75,000. We are working out all details in the coming days. 

b.  November 29th: 2015 Advent Season - SHINE!! Plan to participate along with all of the Church of God churches across the country.
