New STEM Classes
Starting in January
Grades K - 2

Wayland School Community Programs, Community Education, announces a second round of STEM Beginnings classes for K-2 students, with a series of six classes being offered in each elementary school. The program focuses on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) play-based activities and is led by a Shrewsbury, MA, company. Classes start the week of January 11, 2016, as follows: Mondays—Loker School; Tuesdays—Claypit Hill; and Thursdays—Happy Hollow (3 - 4:15 pm).

Burning, burying, recycling, pig farms, composting, single stream recycling, Freecycling, etc., are all approaches to getting rid of our unwanted stuff. Historical Society President Molly Faulkner and Stephen Kadlik of the DPW will present a program on getting rid of Wayland's refuse. They will share the history of trash in Wayland and learn how our town's residents and officials have dealt with residents' refuse through the years-from colonial Sudbury to the present. The program is presented by the Historical Society in the library's Raytheon Room. 
Big Kids Book Buddies

Violence Prevention Conversation

What should a violence prevention program look like in our communities? One in six men have been the victims of violence before adulthood. Most violence against women is perpetrated by men. How can men and boys be helped to own both their vulnerability and their strength? Please join us for a conversation about reframing masculinity by Mathew Swoveland, Deputy Director at The Second Step.
Curious Creatures

Round up your curious kids and join the WCPA at the Claypit Hill School gym for this year's all new Curious Creatures program, a live hands-on animal show for all ages. New features have been added and you won't want to miss it! Get up close and personal with an alligator, snake, gecko, or bearded dragon! Stroke the soft fur of a chinchilla or pet a flying squirrel or a ferret! Tickets will be sold at the door: $5 each for members ($20 max per family) or $7 each for non-members ($25 max per family). Children under 1 are free. Refreshments will be available for purchase after the show. Please come out and support WCPA programming at what is sure to be the fundraising event of the year!

Holiday Tree Removal
January 4 - Deadline for Reservations

Tired of dragging your holiday tree to the transfer station? The WHS Senior Class would like to help you out! We will come to your home, pick up your tree, and bring it to the transfer station. Cost is $17 ($10 for senior citizens). Payment by cash or check. Checks should be made payable to Wayland High School Class of 2016.  Please attach the payment to either the tree or to your front door. To make a reservation, please send your name (first and last), telephone number, and address to [email protected]. You will receive a confirmation email once your request is received. If you do not receive a confirmation, please call Molly Kooshan or Janet Manning (senior class advisors) at 508-358-3723.  
After School French & Spanish Classes
Grades K - 5

Through WSCP, Global Child brings French and Spanish classes to K-5 students in the district’s elementary schools. Registration is now open for the February – May session. Go to the website included here for program and registration information:
