Fifth Third Bank teams up with

Chick-fil-A to provide a healthy meal

One out of every four young people in Memphis comes from a family who does not know where they will get their next meal. Fifth Third Bank teamed up with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis to guarantee those young people a nutritious start to their day. With many children during the Summer arriving at the Boys & Girls Clubs as early as 7:30 a.m., the need to provide breakfast to Club members on summer mornings is critical. Fifth Third Bank is taking an active role in helping to address this issue by providing breakfast to 150 local children at the Sycamore View Boys & Girls Club. The donation of Chick-fil-A breakfast biscuits will be made every Friday during the 8-week summer break from school. The breakfast program donation is part of the Bank's annual Fifth Third Day "Feeding our Communities" campaign.

A record breaking Golf Classic!
Our Oakhaven Club enjoying the Golf Clinic provided by Chickasaw Country Club. Afterwards our kids got to cool off with icecream and enjoy a dip in the pool!

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis would like to thank you once again for your support of the 2015 Golf Classic!

The Golf Classic was a huge success raising more than $150,000 for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis. This fundraiser combined our mission with the passion of golf for a three day event and we had a record breaking year with 71 teams participating in the Golf Tournament.

The three day event kicked off with our Summer Spectacular Party presented by Methodist LeBonheur Healthcare where 240 guests didn't let the rain stop them for joining us for great food, live music, and our fun silent auction.

The beautiful course at Chickasaw Country Club saw some great golfers over the next two days and kids from our Buckman and Oakhaven Clubs joined the golf pros for a golf clinic and fun dip in the pool.

Alumni Spotlight

This summer the Bernal E. Smith Boys & Girls Club has seen a lot of new faces. Children of all ages have become members of the Smith Club and have enjoyed the experience.  These new members, along with other members, were provided fun-filled learning opportunities and recreational activities during the eight weeks of the summer program. If one were to ask the children what they have enjoyed most and what has made the summer program so much fun, they would mention two names - Jerron Washington and Tia Mason.

They are both college students and alumni of the Bernal E. Smith Boys & Girls Club. This summer they have returned to the club as staff leaders. As club members Jerron and Tia were both exceptional and heavily involved in all teen programs. They exemplified our Boys & Girls Club motto "Be Great".

Tia and Jerron are both proud Bernal E. Smith Boys & Girls Club Alumni and are proud graduates of the Hickory Hill communities' Kirby High School.  This fall, Tia and Jerron will return to their respective universities to finish their senior years.  Both expect to graduate in May of 2016, Tia will graduate from Tennessee State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Human Performance Sports Sciences and Jerron is expected to graduate from The University of Arkansas at Little Rock with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis are very proud of Tia and Jerron and want to thank them for returning to their roots and specifically for returning to their home community of Hickory Hill to make a difference in the lives of children by working part time at the Bernal E. Smith Boys & Girls Club - A club they grew up in and are now proud alumni of!
