Welcome to this Newsletter!

The Warren County Board of Chosen Freeholders established an Economic Development Advisory Council in 2012 and gave it the following charge: To create a stable, positive economic environment for Warren County through cooperation with county departments, government agencies, and businesses; to implement smart strategic growth; and to influence economic policy decisions in Warren County. Over the past three years the WCEDAC has held economic summits for local business leaders, assisted municipal officials with state and local economic development resources, and advocated for business growth through state and federal legislators.

It is not enough that we are working on all of these tasks; we've now established a website and an e-newsletter to let you know what is going on with economic development in Warren County, and how you can take advantage of the resources we have to offer. We hope you'll enjoy this newsletter and click through to the website to read the full articles, as we work to bring a strong, sustainable economic climate to Warren County.

MEET WITH WCEDAC MEMBERS AT THE WARREN COUNTY FARMERS' FAIR

Warren County's biggest event - the annual Warren County Farmers' Fair and Balloon Festival - is just around the corner, running from July 25 to August 1. Not only is the fair lots of fun for the whole family, it's a great opportunity for area businesses to promote themselves. Warren County's government is well-represented, too, with a whole building dedicated to informing residents about the many programs and services offered.

This year, WC Economic Development Advisory Council will be represented as well, with information to help get the county's economy moving. Visit the "Warren County and You" building before July 29 and you'll have a chance to win a balloon ride for two!

WCEDAC SEPTEMBER MEETING TO WELCOME LOCAL OFFICIALS

WCEDAC is chaired by Betty Schultheis, and members are Scott Anderson, Mitchell Jones, Andrea Kirchuk, Chris Maier, Hannah Massaquoi, Herman Shoemaker, Tammy Smith, Linda Stettler, Todd Tersigni, and Freeholder Liaison Jason Sarnoski.

Phillipsburg Moves Ahead on Ingersoll Site Redevelopment

Phillipsburg's Town Council has approved an ordinance establishing guidelines for the redevelopment of the former Ingersoll Rand property that would create a distribution center with nine warehouses on the 200+ acres, bringing 800 to 1,000 jobs.

"It's one more step on the way toward getting this site developed," said Council Vice President Todd Tersigni, a WCEDAC member. The town and developer Opus Investment Group LLC of Medford, NJ must still draft an agreement on land acquisition costs and other details of the property's sale and use.

Viewing tourism as an important economic engine for Warren County, the Board of Chosen Freeholders has launched a tourism initiative through the Warren County Public Information Department. Included is an e-newsletter of great things to do, Warren County Wanderings, that debuted this summer, and use of Facebook to promote tourism businesses and events. Meanwhile, the Department is using an online survey to develop an inventory of all tourism venues and tourism-related businesses.
